No offences but theres nothing to be proud of either....The Indian Armed forces have always awarded people for exceptional bravery..nothing of which is present in this incident of which you are trying to brag about.

Bro there is a very thinline between barvery and stupidity. They did well and saved the life (injured and exp. pilots) and recovered the Heli and other stuff.

It would have been stupid to think they could have hold against possible Maoist attack their own and leaving a machine gun for injured person to operate was indeed a wise decision.

2 Pilots and 1 flight crew along with 2 Garuds makes 5 fit people...we have 2 LMGs and 1 MMG(according to you)...Even if they decided to go for help they should have carried all weapons with them or made them unusable...LMG would have only helped their cause had they been ambushed by Maoists...

LMGs are pretty useless to maoists if they can't get ammo (unlike in war where enemy has full supply). Disabling meant that the radio operator could not use it as well if required. Does anybody know how long did the party take to reach to safety and then send rescue party?

I would prefer it anyday over an Assault rifle as i can stop a large force with 2 LMGs..

Only handful of top people use SLRs, AKs or INSAS looted by security personnel. We use Bren LMGs which have 30 round mags (same as AKs) anyway.....

You did not get it... They could not move fast with injured person and injured person need something to protect him. Since mobility was and issue .... leaving LMG for persons left behind was good decision.

Doing so.. they could move fast and get help and gave potent weapon for other to hold for a while.
