Air Force chief leaves for Turkey

Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Abu Esrar, BBP, ndc, acsc along with his spouse and three entourage left Dhaka for Turkey yesterday on a five-day long official visit, says a press release.

During his visit he will call on senior military and civil officials including Ismail DEMIR, Defence Industry Secretary of Turkey, Hulusi AKAR, Chief of General Staff of Turkey Armed Forces and Hasan KUCUKAKUZ, Turkey Air Force Commander and discuss matters on professional and bilateral issues.

BD should find the budget. It is a national priority and will payoff massive dividends in the long run.

Will turkey wants to is another issue. The fighter programme has had starts and stops due to finance and specialised partnering issues. It would be up to BD to persuade the Turks to allow us to partner and shoulder the burden. The major technical partner to the Turkish programme is GB who I do not believe will raise any objection to BD.

The fantastic thing about the Turkish programme is its commitment to master all the various technology involved and be completely string free of other countries.

BD should seek to get in on this... pick up 50% of the check and kick start aviation industry and new technical horizon for the country.

Securing weapon from countries like Turkey,Iran,Pakistan and Indonesia is the safest option for Bangladesh.I believe BD can join their venture will relatively easy and all these countries need to collaborate closely with each other on defence matter as well as other fields.
