I don't mind the use of bio-fuel to replace oil, but it should only for aviation. Ground transport should still look for alternatives.
But high energy density is required for aviation so bio-fuel will fill the gap until some other alternative with similar performance is found.
It is good that they are planting those plants on difficult to grow terrain and heaviliy polluted areas. The plants will absrobe heavy metals and other pollutants which can then hopefully be extracted during the purifying processes.
