Ahead in time: Govt to implement $51m plan for Tarbela project

Not aid but loan, Tarbela 4 is build with loan which will be payed back. Its not easy to secure loan of 14 billion $ for country like Pakistan.

well loan given at nearly zero % interest is actually a AID.

the word grant is used for something that has no payback

loan is a term used usually if you are going to pay 4-12% interest depending upon source .

otherwise getting a loan is not difficult to get at higher interests for the government.

donars are ready to provide 75% funding. in form of supplier credit, and funds from IB, AB WAPDA cma up with the proposal but it was rejected by the goverment.

apparently govt only wants to build dams with 90-95% foreign Aid! like the tarbeal extension.
it has no choice but to carry on the NJ project and and DASU is also funded 90% by international donars but govt laziness has cause it to delay even further

i dont know that i should even give credit to govt to build dam that are being built on 90% foreign funding
!

You are contradicting yourself in the same post. on one hand you tell us that the gov't has no choice but to implement the project in this manner. On the other, you are blaming them for using foreign funding!!

You gov't doesn't have the money.....so if you have this much laying around, may want to give your government a loan on cheaper or no interest for your country? Sad part is, people like you, for your political reasons and bias, undermine your OWN country's interests. If someone actually works and does something, they are corrupt and lazy. If they don't do anything, they are still corrupt and lazy. So which one is it? Seems like you guys don't want your own country to move an inch forward from where its been for decades. Sad and silly posts like this show the world how seriously divided and negative you guys are.
By the way, any loan below 4% is really not a loan as the APR is so basic and cheap. Commercial loans usually go around 6-10% depending upon a country's rating. If you are getting these development loans at 4% or below, you should use these funds wisely and get the best out of these. These loans won't last long as the Western markets are moving up fast. In Pakistan's case, the biggest issue right now to kick start its economy, is the need for proper electricity. These dams will end up providing serious energy production and water saving and reserving value. In the long run, you'll save Billions of dollars in fuel costs and then will have saved a lot of water for agriculture and other purposes, that today, goes to total waste. Not sure why the criticism on any and every project!

nope, i am not..
what i am saying is govt just want freebies i.e projects that are fully funded by foreign loans. as its focus is not building dams but getting votes and dams due to its long course of development do not get many votes. if it was sincere in building dams it wouldnt have rejected WAPDA proposal of bhasha dam financing. it knew that better spend the money on electoral community rather than a multi billion project that is incredible vital for country survival due to value in water storage, flooding and power
