It's not just the Apache. They had problems tackling with Mi-24's as well back in the 80's. Gunships simply are exceptionally good against insurgents in open terrain. The only thing that made a difference was that they had access to Stinger MANPADS back then and now they don't.

For sure . But its ability to sneak in is really amazing. these guys on ground don't even had clue .And firepower and survivability is great as well when compared with all other contenders

Indeed it packs a great punch but how do these gunships fare against modern weapons is yet to be seen
Remember the insurgents in both Iraq and Afghanistan just rely on low quality SAMs or even RPG.
Nothing likes of real MANPADS.
