F21 isnt acceptable. India wont go for a single engine besides its just a glorifies F16.
Whereas FA18 with Growler modifications is a different thing altogether. Currently IAF may be leaning towards Rafale but if such geo political situation develops im sure Growler wont disappoint them.

No your observation is wrong.
U cannot win against a country where locals dont support you.
examples:
1) Anglo afghan war. British india was bordering afghanistan.
2) Soviet union was the direct neighbor of afghanistan. But due to public support mujahideen won.
3) On groun taliban enjoy huge public support as compared to US and allies.
4) Let suppose kashmir is indian territory but locals are against you so this mean exactly the same scenario. Infact soviets and british at one point were peacefully ruling afghanistan.
Taliban were finished and US won decisive victory.
As for indian attack on Pakistan in such scenario, i already had mentioned that this may happen but india won't be getting any decisive victory. But fighting a war may make you weak and help kashmiris.

and plz dont forget how with eaxtly same scenario azerbaijan was defeated by armenia. Just because locals within azerbaijan were like kashmiris in india, azerbaijan despite size, economy and population advantage lost the war.

Don't you think by going the FA18 route, IAF will not actually benefit much? Don't get me wrong FA18 is an amazing plane, but as India is already getting Rafale which satisfies IAF requirements for a double engine fighter. whereas IAF is still looking for a single engine fighter.

You won't stand chance either against fighters armed with ATGM's,HMG's,MANPAD's and IED's.

Yes, Rafale is most probably going to be the winner. Its also the logical choice as India has already bought it once. Im not talking about other variants of FA18, im talking about growler specifically. However, if such situation arises as the OP said, India can go for Growler to shut USA up. It wont be a big loss, we will loose some capabilities but will gain significant EW capabilities and FA18 in itself is a very good aircraft. Single engine fighter wont be a foreign one. Its going to be Tejas, that is role for which its been developed and MWF is planned.
IAF will again buy Twin engine aircraft most probably Rafale.
