Imagine Pakistani Fawad Khan campaigns for Congress party during election of India. This is totally illegal. Same with Bangladeshis campaigning for Mamata Banerjee's party TMC in India's on going election. They have put Bangladeshis in shame. :hitwall:

GAZI ABDUN NOOR asked to leave India

The controversy regarding the involvement of two Bangladeshi actors in the Indian political campaigns have stirred quite unease since the allegations were brought forward by the Indian authorities.

Even though Ferdous has returned to Bangladesh, Noor is yet to depart India. The Bangladesh Embassy in Kolkata has instructed Gazi Abdun Noor to return to Bangladesh in an urgent notice. During a conversation over the phone with The Daily Star yesterday, Deputy High Commissioner, Toufique Hasan stated, “This is an embarrassing situation. Those who have caused it should have been aware about the consequences. We are rather upset about their actions.”

Meanwhile, a media source in Kolkata reported that Noor has also been directed to return home from the Ministry of Home Affairs. According to a source, Noor was already facing problems regarding his visa, as it has already expired. He will now have to pay a hefty fine before his departure from India. When the actor was contacted over the phone for confirmation, he was unreachable.

On April 15, Noor was seen partaking in a campaign for Professor Saugata Roy, Trinamool candidate of Dumdum Lok Sabha constituency, near Kolkata. According to the BJP Election Commission, the picture of Noor's publicity spread through social media rapidly. BJP leader Jay Prakash Majumdar told The Daily Star, "We have no issues about any Bangladeshi actor. However, we have submitted a written complaint to the Election Commission against those who used the foreigners for their political campaigns.”

Earlier, actor Ferdous was asked to leave India within 24 hours due to his participation in a campaign. Sources also confirmed that he has been "blacklisted" from entry into India.

After renowned Bangladeshi actor Ferdous was caught in the TMC (Trinamool Congress) campaign controversy, another Bangladeshi actor, Gazi Abdun Noor was also allegedly caught campaigning for TMC leader, MP Saugata Roy, on Tuesday. Gazi plays the role of Raja Rajchandra in the hit serial, 'Rani Rashmoni' on Channel Zee 5, popular amongst audience both in India and Bangladesh. He was seen campaigning alongside TMC leader Madan Mitra.

According to Anandabazar, a leading Indian daily, BJP submitted a video to the commission, where Gazi Abdun Noor was seen waving to the onlookers from a vehicle, which was part of a campaign road show by MP Saugata Roy.

BJP leader Rahul Sinha expressed serious concern over the matter saying Bangladeshi actors are coming to India and are campaigning for TMC which is wrong because no foreign citizen can influence voters, as reported by ZEE NEWS. He also added that these actors are coming to India on either tourist or business visa but are indulging in political activity.

West Bengal BJP leaders Jay Prakash Majumdar and Sisir Bajoria on Tuesday met Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ariz Aftab in Kolkata and demanded that Ferdous should be arrested.

"We understand that foreign nationals can't participate in electioneering process in India. When TMC is using Bangladeshi nationals for campaigning, they are breaking the rules. He should be arrested for breach of visa rules," Majumdar said.

According to a source at the election commission, there are no clear laws about foreigners not being allowed to campaign for politician parties, reports Anandabazaar. “We have let the commission in Delhi know, and will wait for their decision.”

Talking to Zee Media, TMC leader and Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim tried to downplay the matter saying BJP is deliberately raising this issue because they are sure of their defeat in the state.

The event was brought to light after Ferdous was first to be caught in the controversy. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of India, cancelled his business visa and he was made to leave the country. The MHA also told the Anandabazaar Potrika, that Ferdous was committing visa violations, as he was campaigning for TMC candidate Kanhaiyalal Agarwal. Kanhaiyalal later denied his involvement in hiring the actor in the Mamata Banerjee-led party's campaign. This came as a big shock for the entertainment industries, for both Bangladesh and Kolkata, where Ferdous is seen as a goodwill ambassador.

The event is now a huge topic for debate among the masses and between India's two major parties, BJP and Congress, as the leaders from the former party put forth allegations on Congress for 'condoning' visa violations for their campaign.

Kolkata:
A second Bangladeshi actor has been asked to leave the country immediately after he was seen campaigning for the Trinamool Congress in the Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal earlier this week.

Ghazi Abdul Noor was issued a "Leave India" notice by the Ministry of Home Affairs, a day after the BJP approached the Election Commission citing a video of him purportedly campaigning for Saugata Roy at a rally in the Dum Dum constituency.

It was also found that Mr Noor's was in India despite the expiry of his visa. "Appropriate action is also being taken regarding his overstay in contravention of visa rules," a home ministry official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

Voting in the Dum Dum seat will be held May 19, along with eight other constituencies.

Mr Noor is the second Bangladeshi actor to be sent back this week, after Ferdous Ahmed. Like Mr Noor, Ferdous Ahmed was also campaigning for the Trinamool Congress.

Bengal BJP targeted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's party, calling these instances "a gross violation of the basics of democratic structure". BJP's West Bengal vice-president Jay Prakash Majumdar said: "This act is in violation of the terms of visa and yet another case of a foreigner actively influencing the electoral process."

Mr Ahmed's presence at a Trinamool roadshow on Sunday triggered a row, following which the Home Ministry cancelled his business visa. "He also has been blacklisted. FRRO (Foreigners Regional Registration Office) Kolkata has been directed to ensure compliance of these orders," a senior bureaucrat in the ministry said.

Ferdous Ahmed was campaigning for Trinamool's Kanaia Lal Agarwal from Raiganj.

According to the Home Ministry officer, granting visas is the right of Government of India and the state has no role in it. "A foreigner can't come to India and campaign for a political party," he added.
Mr Ahmed is said to be visiting India on a business visa. The Deputy High Commission for Bangladesh also asked him not to take part in the election campaign in India and return to his country.

According to reports, Mr Ahmed has been working in India's Bengali film industry these days.

BJP leader Babul Supriyo had posted photos of both actors on Twitter, highlighting the violation of the poll code.

Why would Ferdous Ahmed, a Bangladeshi Actor join TMC's election campaign? Why did @MamataOfficial's party think that it would be appropriate to let a Bangladeshi citizen endorse his preferred party from WB?What is this if not appeasement politics practiced by #TMChhi blatantly? pic.twitter.com/3iZ0mQEwr6

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for allowing Bangladeshi actor Ferdous Ahmed to campaign for the Trinamool Congress in the state, Indian newspaper The Statesman reports.

Addressing a campaign rally for the Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal on Saturday, Modi berated ‘speed-breaker didi’ Mamata and said, “It is shameful that people from the neighbouring country (Bangladesh) are campaigning for the TMC.”

“This was done by the party to appease the minority community.”

Actor Ferdous was the subject of fierce criticism for taking part in a campaign of a Trinamool Congress candidate while in Kolkata for a film shoot.

The Indian government subsequently ordered the actor to leave the country after cancelling his visa following a report from the Bureau of Immigration on the matter.

The actor later apologised for his 'inadvertent mistake' and said he had been 'driven by emotion from the love of the people of West Bengal' when he had joined the campaign along with his Indian co-actors.

West Bengal is going to the polls in all the seven phases in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
