What's new

After Baahubali 2, Dangal became the second Indian movie to cross 1500 Cr INR

Baahubali and Dangal are at neck and neck race to win the crown for highest grossing Indian movie ever

1 Baahubali 2: The Conclusion
₹1,565 crore (US$240 million)

2 Dangal
₹1,501 crore (US$230 million)

Bahubali's 240 million $ is only from tickets and they had earned another 500 crore through pre release distribution rights .
Means it is already surpassed 2000 crore .
Dont know about Dangal but they could have attain 2000 crore if film was released in Pakistan.

Now people are planning movies on grand scale, ready to invest 500 crores to 1000 crores.

Sir Total collection matters, not at what price the rights were sold. Otherwise thats double counting. Rights affect internal profit loss calculations, total ticket sales shows popular commercial success, a uniform standard for comparison.

LOl, Pakistan is a minuscular market. They have some 100 odd functioning screens all over the country, no way they could have added any significant revenue for Dangal had it been released there. Anyways their highest grossing movie is some 10 Cr INR, for Dangal that is a drop in the ocean.

. . .
I liked Dangal. A lot. Saw it on cable the first time this weekend only. And watched it two and a half times.

The elder sister would be an automatic pick for a movie on Piyanka Gandhi.
