Kalra responded by asking in a tweet: “Who gives a f*** about the spirit of Kashmiriyat at this moment? It’s not your job to placate. Just drag those cowards out and cull them.”

Singh’s response to Kalra was devoid of any anger and to the point – he made it clear that he did care about Kashmiriyat.
“Ms Kalra I certainly do. It is absolutely my job to ensure peace & tranquility in all parts of the country. All Kashmiris are not terrorists,” he said.

Singh, who has more than 6 million followers on Twitter, earned both praise and reproach for his tweet on Kashmiriyat. Some thanked him for his calm approach while others demanded he take action against the terrorists instead on tweeting a condemnation.
Some also lauded him for engaging even with Twitter users who were being abusive.
Big-hearted & wise of @rajnathsingh to engage constructively with an angry Indian despite cuss word used. His mentor Atalji would be proud https://t.co/de9O3pYLMc

Singh’s official Twitter handle has about 2,700 tweets - far fewer than the nearly 16,000 tweets from Modi’s official handle or 5,000-odd from Swaraj’s handle.

With Single Tweet on Amarnath, Kashmiriyat, Rajnath Singh Wins a Million Hearts
New Delhi: As the nation woke up to the news of a horrific terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims in Kashmir, Home Minister Rajnath Singh swung into action with a review meeting on pilgrims' security. But it was a tweet from the veteran BJP leader that won hearts and minds on social media.
At 12:37 am on Tuesday, Singh tweeted from his handle @RajnathSingh, “The people of Kashmir have strongly condemned the terror attack on Amarnath yatris. It shows the spirit of Kashmiriyat is very much alive.”
In a strongly-worded reply to the Home Minister, author and Twitter user Suchi Singh Kalra tweeted, “Who gives a f*** about the spirit of Kashmiriyat at this moment? It’s not your job to placate. Just drag those cowards out and cull them.” The tweet has since then gone viral.
But Rajnath Singh’s response to the tweet was both measured and firm. “Ms Kalra I certainly do. It is absolutely my job to ensure peace & tranquility in all parts of the country. All Kashmiris are not terrorists,” he said.

The response won him praise from across political lines, including from former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. “Bravo @rajnathsingh ji. You have my respect & admiration. I salute you. Thank you for your statesmanship & leadership today,” he said.
Lawyer-turned-activist Prashant Bhushan, too, praised the Home Minister and said, “Like Sushma Swaraj, Rajnath Singh is emerging as another Statesman in the Modi Cabinet. Most mature & sensible tweet by him.”
Author Rana Ayyub said, “The most sensible political statement on #AmarnathTerrorAttack has been from @rajnathsingh . Though the buck stops at his door too,” adding, “Rajnath Singh is my hero for the day. This is so rare in politics of our time.”
