The container port will benefit Karachi greatly. Now major shipping lines can stop there. Will reduce freight charges and give exporters more options. It's a win-win for everyone.

i was just asking bcuz one member raised the environment issue....thats all.....I have personally no idea, at all what Pakistanis and Chinese have incorporated on that....

Yes! Apparently they are starting port operations in October under South Asia Pakistan Terminals Ltd.

Hutchison’s terminal will begin operations in the last week of October and will aim to handle 250,000 twenty-foot equivalent units in the first year of operations and increase that to more than 2 million in five years, the person said. The terminal cost $1.4 billion with Hutchison spending $600 million and the local port authority spending the rest for land reclamation, dredging and other work, the person said.
