Here is another positive step from the Afghan government to encourage stronger commerce in the region, this is in line with the thinking of H.E Ashraf Ghani where he sees a prospering region deterimintal to a prosperous Afghanistan.

ISLAMABAD: Afghanistan has waived the financial guarantee of 110 per cent customs duty and $100 per 25 tonnes charges on Pakistani goods transiting through the country to Central Asian States.

In a meeting with the Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday, Afghanistan Ambassador Janan Mosazai informed that a notification has been issued in this regard.

The two sides also finalised the date for holding 10th Pak-Afghan Joint Economic Commission (JEC) meeting — to be held in Islamabad on August 26-27.

Dar informed the envoy that the government has already undertaken preparatory work for the meeting.

He asked Secretary Economic Affairs Division Saleem Sethi to review progress on different projects and ascertain implementation status of decisions taken during the last commission’s meeting in November.

Dar said that the JEC meeting would further enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.

He proposed technical level meeting of Pak-Afghan officials prior to the formal JEC meeting.

Mosazai also expressed his gratitude on the progress of Jalalabad-Torkham road project.

.
Even with the Indians cozying up with the afghan govt ,the fact is that Pakistan is still your largest trading partner .We account for almost 30 percent of your imports and exports. Its high time that we start work on the Peshawar-Kabul motorway and connect Afghanistan with CPEC.

The next round of Murree talks are due in end of july. Maybe in Murree , both parties can finally agree on a temporary cease fire ,until a solution for peace can be drawn out.

Hey buddy.. the waiver is for transit of goods to Central Asian States through Afghanistan and not to Afghanistan.
So, this is not about trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

BTW ..Do you know the trade volume ?

Pakistan , Afghanistan and Tajikistan were in process of finalizing a trilateral agreement called (Pakistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan Trilateral Transit Trade Agreement (PATTTTA). This waiver is a part of that deal. This was also discussed when nawaz traveled to Dushanbe last month. The 110 % duty and 100$ charges were the main obstacle , now the PATTTTA can be finalized.

The trade volume is almost 3 billion ,expected to rise to 5 billion in a few years . While India's trade volume with Afghanistan is less than 1 billion $ .
