Trade ties with Pakistan should be freezed: ACCI


Sunday, 10 July – Officials in Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) have called on all Afghan merchants to halt their trade relations with Pakistan.

The officials were complaining that challenges for Afghan merchants have been doubled despite the transit agreement with Pakistan

ACCI officials also demanded from Afghan government to ban Pakistan’s transit convoys to Central Asia

Khan Jan Alokozai Deputy for ACCI said, Pakistan refuses to respect the transit agreement which was signed between the two countries and have stopped Afghanistan’s trade convoys without any logical reason.

Mr. Alokozai said, “We urge the Afghan government to take similar action against Pakistani merchants and private sectors so that they should face the same problems.”

In the meantime, Afghan Exports Union accuses Afghan government for being careless towards transit agreement between the two countries and not providing the facilities to Afghan merchants.

Officials in Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) says that around 5000 containers which belong to Afghan merchants have been stopped by Pakistani officials, and Afghan merchants are bearing a loss of USD500,000 on daily basis.

Pakistan should purchase stragically located Wakhan corridor from A'stan, it is as important as Gawadar. Back in 60's Pakistan purchased Gawadar from Oman same type deal must be done with A'stan.

We are suffering a 2 bn $ loss due to Afghan Transit,who is responsible????
Afghan transit trade is the biggest contributer of smuggling in Pakistan.Each year Afghans earn billions by smugling the imported items to Pakistan.
I think we should have a transit trade agreement with Afghanistan, as India has with Nepal,Butan.

That can be a positive & a negative. In that situation, Pakistan will have a direct border with Tajikistan, & Tajikistan has a lot of strategic alliances with India.
