PM Modi’s 5-nation tour began with his first stop at Afghanistan, where he inaugurated the Afghan-India Friendship Dam, which is a Rs. 1700 crore project solely undertaken by the Indian government. PM Modi and Afghanistan’s President Ashraf Ghani formally inaugurated dam on Saturday, jointly pressing a remote-control button that sent water surging through turbines, which will generate power for the industries there.

“India will not forget you or turn away.”

“Your friendship is our honor; your dreams are our duty.”

These were PM Modi’s messages to the people of Afghanistan. But what has surprised the entire world is the numerous messages the PM has received from Afghanis. They are going viral over the internet and for all the right reasons. Here they are.

Have to admit I felt more than a little mushy reading those mails. Hope like hell that Modi follows up with sincerity and loyalty. The Afghans need friends in this world. Not friends who give them guns, but ones who give them dams, roads and bridges, hospitals, teaching.....

That's very true. Our farmers, and not just our farmers, our millions unemployed and starving on one or two meals a day, need immediate help.

But that doesn't mean that he shouldn't help others as well. It just means that he should not have been there, he could have deputed someone else, and he could have been firefighting the situation (which actually is about to take a turn for the better in less than a week).

It isn't a zero sum game.

About the refugees, the Afghans rotting in Pakistan, I know what you mean and deeply sympathise, because Pakistan probably had fellow-feeling right in there along with calculating self-interest in certain echelons of your deep state, and because the whole thing has gone horribly toxic. Please remember: we had taken refugees on before, people fleeing from war and genocide. I was there in some of the camps. It was hell. Not the way we imagine it, with fire and screams of agony from tortured souls. It was wet and damp and everything that was left alone was covered with fungus. And everyone died. Not noisy deaths; they just gave up, shut their eyes and died.

Come on dear friend...if Pakistan being as poor like India can spent money on Kashmir separatist and nuclear bomb, why can not India spent the money for something which pays long term dividend?...He is just using your formula against you only..
