Lindsey Graham said, in a televised interview, that the United States should start negotiating with Pakistan instead to get as much ‘leverage’ on the Taliban as possible
The war in Afghanistan would end in few weeks if Pakistan denied the Taliban safe haven in its territory, a top U.S. Senator said. Senator Lindsey Graham said the United States should negotiate with Pakistan instead of the Taliban to see an end to the war in Afghanistan.

“As to negotiating with the Taliban, I think we got this wrong. I think what we should do is start negotiating with Pakistan. If Pakistan denied the Taliban safe haven in Pakistan, the war in Afghanistan would end in a matter of weeks,” Graham said in an interview to Fox News on Monday.

Talks with Taliban resume
Washington resumed talks with the Taliban in Qatar on Saturday, three months after President Donald Trump had abruptly halted diplomatic efforts that could end America’s longest war. Mr. Trump called the year-long effort “dead” and withdrew an invitation to the insurgents to join secret talks at his U.S. retreat at Camp David after the killing of an American soldier.

Mr. Graham also said that he wants to change the behaviour of Pakistan. “So, I want to try to get Pakistan to change their behaviour through a free trade agreement tied to security performances, then talk to the Taliban. I want as much leverage over the Taliban as possible to end this war,” he added.

How long before America acknowledge their own mistakes and stop blaming Pakistan ? Pakistan has influence over Mullah Omar who studied in Pakistan but he is dead now, Taliban now has far more bigger countries supporting them and I don't understand why America is not doing anything about their Funding ? Taliban and Afghan Insurgency still rely on Opium Production and yet there are farms producing Opium in large quantities , why these Farms haven't been destroyed yet permanently ? Why Indian involvement in Afghanistan is been constantly over-looked by Americans ? Why NATO's and ANA support to TTP/JuA close to Pakistan border has been neglected ? What America wants to achieve with few thousands troops which their Hundreds of thousands troops couldn't ?

This kind of statements from America were understandable back in early 2000's when that part of Pakistan has little to no connection with rest of Pakistan, They were no go Areas for Journalists , Government employee , Police and General Public , but now people are resettling there, they know what's going on there, who is attacking from across the Border .In fact i remember that PA took a large contingent of American Senators to N.Wazirstan , they literally asked Americans to pin point the location where they want to go , where they think we are Hiding Taliban, but they seems to do nothing except been very impressed by the measures took by PA .

With this attitude the relationship won't get better , and as Pakistan is moving ahead of USA, now America is constantly poking its head on CPEC why ? If America thinks Pakistan is the real culprit than why not send 500,000 Troops to Afghanistan, Seal the border , Kill all insurgents and be done with it ? even if Pakistan hide the leadership when all their Fighters are dead what a sole leader with no fighter, no influence can or will do ? NOTHING .

Their agenda is known since decades : encircling China. And Pakistan is on their path. Nothing more nothing less.

Well, Pakistan's military dictatorship made a 10-year deal with the US between 2002 - 2012.

Pakistan gained annualised $2.2 billion chanda, $36 billion external debts deferred, non-nato ally status and plenty of free or cheap weaponry.

The US gained free pass for CIA, Blackwater, access to Pakistan's military bases, inspection of Pakistan's nuclear assets, 430 drone strikes on Pakistan, insurgencies in tribal region, thousands of terrorist attacks, 60,000 Pakistanis dead/martyred, $120 billion economic damage as well as internationally recognised pariah status.

And oh look, Pakistani Government has ended up with a cabinet under PM Khan (totally democratically elected of course) that also served the military dictatorship.

What a coincidence!

Well he was very very pro Pakistan as much as a yankee can get .
Besides ofcourse if they give us some solid things nsyead of steroid injections such as free trade agreement, investments, control security in Afghanistan effecting Pakistan . Waivers for Pakistan working with Iran and Russia then ofcourse Pakistan would end this war much sooner.

It’s not in their agenda. Actually it’s the opposite.

We should speed up the border fencing using high tech gadgetry, without forgetting to fence underground’s too to any tunnels.

We are doing that but even that is not enough .
The fence is very filmsy . The area so far off that it never comes in attention in main stream media . And the local levis and whatever sort of police structure weather army or civilian are corrupt to the core.
We take army for granted by still those individuals that guard the border though very difficult allow the Smuggling . Drug traficking is really easy like a peace of cake and other stuff .
The new forts and border guards maybe improve the situation yes . But again everything comes down to money miney money ..
