Pakistan cannot be like Taliban, or a bunch of cave-dwellers who have no regard for their own lives and that of others. Honor does not imply stupidity.

How convenient, just as some progress was being made in talks between US and Taliban. Is this a part of Taliban messaging to Washington or there is an emergence of fissures among Talibans?

I think the Taliban would be signalling that there is no deal until there is a deal. So they are probably trying to keep the pressure up, just in case if the peace process is a delaying move and things eventually fall away. It is an apt strategic move but I wonder what the Afghans are doing to counter it. Since it will only make the Taliban bolder n their talks and also this way Taliban will be able to squeeze more power for themselves by the time things eventually settle.
