Afghan, Pakistan, U.S. troops to hold joint exercise

KABUL: Afghan, Pakistan and U.S. troops will conduct a joint military exercise for the first time in the volatile Afghan-Pakistan border region, the U.S. military said Monday.

The operation, to be called Inspired Gambit, will be an ``air assault exercise'' involving a small contingent of Afghan soldiers and an unspecified number of Pakistani troops, U.S. military spokesman Col. Laurent Fox said during a press conference in the Afghan capital, Kabul.

``We feel that it is important that the only way we will solve the terrorism and insurgency problem is to work closely together with each other,'' Fox said.

I think its mainly Pak-Afghan-US

Pakistan invited Afghanis to share how difficutl it is to stop "terrorists". The Afghani will see the area and the US will see that it is difficult without latest technology. win-win-win.

They should have done that before Bushes visit to Karzai, which in my opinion had negative impact on Pak-US relationship.

They do not need to do that if Karzai is running a failed nation where heroin and terrorism is far higher then any nation in the world. Karzai shoulg get the last 3 miilion Afghans back to Afghanistan and shut up. Barking at neighbours was wrong move if he could only drive around in Kabul. He should stop the anti pak sentiments cause why were many civilian pakistani butchered and returned only after Pakistan paid? Karzai should first look in the mirror and not act like a sat of India.

He's merely a US poppet, once the western forces leave Afghanistan will fall back into the dark age.
They have more domestic and ethnic issues to solve than any other country in the region.
Pointing at other is just a lame excuse to to justify own failures.

Honestly I did not like the Taleban but sofar Karzai has not brought much either. He should rebuild his nation and not deveide and conquerer with American cash and bodyguards. There should be elections and UN forces should clean up the mess. Secular government and Marshall plan. This search and kill by "coalition" is leading to nothing accept now and then killing of Pakistani or anger on both sides.

Afhanistan became the hotbed for Drugs and terrorism long before he was at the helm.Things have improved after he came to power,though with external help.
