Sir may be you meant "gunned" down. I like your confidence in the Pakistani poker abilities. But I remember that there was one deal in which the confident Pakistan army lost half the country. So my recommendation will be that when the stakes are existential, better to call the show and leave the table when one is still ahead. But that rule is not for the superhumans though.

The problem is that the USA and India dont have a massive border to protect with Afghanistan. Its easy to make comments and assessments from a distance and make recommendations from a distance. When you see the situation from close up and know the politics behind the issues its not as easy as you may think.
If India has something genuine to bring to the table to resolve issues in Afghanistan then who in their right mind wouldn't want them involved. I frankly think its naive and cheap of the Afghanistan government not to realize and appreciate the sacrifices and assistance Pakistan common man has had to make in the last 10 years.
Pakistan and Afghanistan have too much history and structure to put together. I have said on numerous occasions its time to have stringent border control for the sake of both sides in assisting the free walking between nation on the retarded extremists that are creating animosity on both sides.
The USA are playing an extremely dangerous game and i believe the next 2 weeks in this game of chess will be vital for the stability of the area.

We are screaming for Pakistan's help from last 2 years but nothing.. even things got bitter and bitter day by day; Afghan gov should now be very conscious of any relation and deal with Pakistan because it seems it will not take us any where, than why not concentrate on some other issues.

Its pretty simple.. At this time, Pakistan and Afghanistan's interests are not aligned and are in conflict.. Nothing else can be expected

Wrong. The common Pakistani doesn't care what happens in Afghanistan (who comes into power), as long as Afghan terrorists do not cross the border & start blowing up places in Pakistan, or cause political/social unrest in FATA/KPK in the name of Pashtunistan.

Well unfortunately, the Pakistani Army/ISI doesn't think like you do and that is the tragedy of Afghanistan.

Even Musharraf has clearly said now that Pakistan will support the Taliban and Haqqani network in Afghanistan. So is it any wonder that Afghans hate Pakistani Army/ISI?

Present situation in Afghanistan is comparable to the 2007 peak in Iraq.After 2007 Iraq became a more peaceful place.
So will be Afghanistan after 2011.

Reflecting tremendous goodwill of its soft power in Afghanistan, India has been voted as the most favoured country, getting 71% votes in an opinion poll there while Pakistan was viewed favourably by a meagre 2% of the people.


The poll, commissioned by BBC, American Broadcasting Company (ABC) and German Broadcasting company ARD, showed India was way ahead of all other countries, including the US which is leading the war against terror there.


In the poll conducted between December 11 and 23 last year, Germany polled 59% and stood at second spot. The US came third with 51% polls, Iran followed with 50% votes and Britain got 39%.


Pakistan managed only two per cent votes, according to the survey conduced by Kabul-based Afghan Centre for Socio-Economic Opinion Research (ACSOR).


The vote in favour of India is seen as a reflection of the goodwill because of the developmental activities undertaken by it on a large scale in the war-ravaged country.


India has developmental assistance programmes to the tune of US$ 1.3 billion that covers road construction, healthcare, power sector and across-the-board capacity building in Afghanistan.


The results echoed the findings of a gallup survey of Afghanistan released in November in which 56% of the people voted for India when asked which group or country played the best role in resolving the situation in Afghanistan.


In fact, India surpassed even the UN and NATO by a per cent in this regard.
