Afghan military operation goes badly wrong

Ahmad why you even reply to some misinformed persons in the first place.

He doesnt know that all factions of Afghan society were fighting against USSR

Pukhtoons in Afghanistan are strong because we are with them otherwise in my personal opinion they cant sustain against big powers

Dear Jana, perhpas this is time the admins take action against this guy. He is shamelessly spreading false information on purpose in this forum. PDF is one of the best and it is attracting many people towards it, those people who know little about afghanistan and reading his comments they will believe all those non sense coming from him. I tried to ignore him, but he is literally repeating this thing over and over in every thread. I urged him to at least take a book and read the history of Afghanistan before passing all these judgments, but aparantly he is not taking my advice. To be honest with you he is not the first pakistani who is thinking this way, i am amazed to see how some pakistnais are mis informed(or some of them try to do this intentionally). I ask him again to take a book and read history, Afghanistan's history didnt start from the last century.

Press the report button :) and seriously most of Pakistanis do not know about the that team of famous 6 or 8 who fought against USSR.

Those who know are the ones who are interested or related to first Afghan war against USSR

Successful in the sense of manpower, organization, funds and operational theatre experience. Northern Alliance's setup which involved the minority warlords and small interconnected clans were much better organized than the loose Pashtun tribal clans who often were mistrustful of each other. Pashtuns were not getting aid from countries like Turkey, some European states, etc.

In the first Afghan war there was NO northern alliance.

All of them including Pukhtuns were fighting together . All were our boys

Jana you are right the political entity known as Northern Alliance was not there, but the small groups comprising of them later were still quite large bands and they usually did not mix with Pashtun or other groups in the fighting and these warlords had lots of outside help. They already had a loose alliance before the Northern Alliance, I can even tell you which warlord was responsible for that. Pakistan mainly helped the Pashtun Mujahideen only but also did help a select few minority warlords from Tajik and Uzbek people, some who were also operating from inside Pakistan. There were divisions even then. For instance when not busy fighting the Soviets they were busy killing each other. That happened even before the civil war broke out in 96. Ground realities are different than what is taught and accepted in the realm of easy to pluck information. Not all were treated like our boys and many were not our boys. Pakistan was not the only country involved in this war.

The problem with the afghan 'national' army is that it is no national Army.

The americans wonders why the 'national' army is not motivated to defend their 'country' , well the simple answer is that they dont really see the whole of afghanistan as their country and they see no reason why they should defend the south of the 'country'.

If the fighting was taking place , say in Panjsher , then you'll see the motivation in this 'Afghan National Army'.

The soultion is either to disolve afghansitan as it is today or at the very least change its name , which is not representative of the many ethnicites that live in the land mass called 'afghanistan'
