once again .. this discussion reminds me of the remarks by a Northern Alliance thug to an American narrator saying that his men had the right to molest young Afghan boys since they wont be needing to do that to their own mothers and grand mothers. referring to VICE documentary of an American Marine who travels over different parts of Afghanistan and has to deal with rapist, thieving and dishonest Northern Alliance soldiers and officials..

the tragedy for that Afghan envoy is that he cant even explain why the same Afghan Taliban who in their time brutalised entire Afghanistan are seen a lesser evil and even getting support in northern and non-Pashton Afghanistan parts.

But I can see why this surprises some Pakistanis whose view of development is anything to perpetuate the enslavement of Pakistan by Pakistan's own military which as of now has usurped over a third of gdp and owns over 50 industries! While terming Talibans as the epitome of evil and foreign funded while conniving with the inhuman warlords and NATO, does little to get his judgement right.

I think he is familiar with the ground reality as many do in Afghanistan politics. The real question is the policy. The fixated policy boils down to the existence of Pakistan, so in essence it goes back to 1947 citing the Durand Line. No political leader of Afghanistan can question the popular mainstream narrative thus putting their own political careers at stake, at least not now.

We saw the premature reaction from Afghanistan as state just as Ashraf Ghani came off with pro-Pakistani stances earlier. So, the nation as whole is not ready for the peace with Pakistan, at least not yet. So, Ashraf Ghani, being realistically, will have to make do with what is presented to him to sustain his political career.
