I'm not too certain on that. Pakistanis send some $20 billion annually back home. Obviously they are earning some good money abroad. How can that happen if nobody wants to entertain their passport?

My own experiance confirms this. I have travelled widely on my British passport however when asked the question where my family hail from and I reply "Pakistan" the reaction is mostly negative. Most people's ingrained manners prevent them from saying "wtf?" but you can still tell. I have never though shied from saying "Pakistan" as that would be insulting my parents. I do though by example and talk get people to look at Pakistan from another perspective but it is not easy. As regards Afghanistan that again does not surprise me. We are both in the shitebucket and wish we stop fighting each other. We need to look at the world that is laughing at us instead kicking each other.

And I frankly blame the Mullahs and their ignorant disciples for this. They are curse on this region.

That does not mean anything. There are millions of African's and Somali's that Europeans detest but they still come to Europe in boats. Once here they also send money back. The fact that Pakistani's make good money abroad and are able to send it back say's lot about the host countries freedoms and economies but not much about Pakistan.

I don't think it's problem - Visa free travel is always bilateral arrangement, i am not in favor of visa free entry in to Pakistan, nor want same kind of facility for Pakistanis as it's always misused. We are already getting idiots from all over the world despite that there is no visa free entry, imagine what will be situation if Pakistan actually allows visa free entry.

Caveat: I blame Pakistan's bad image on Mullah's and their brigades in the first instance followed by Indian's doing their best to shit stir. The final one would be our failure recognize Isreal. If even today any two of these were sorted out Pak image would rise like air balloon in water.

The truth is Pakistan is marvelous country. One of the world's raw diamonds. From it's incredible history at cross roads of the world history, to ancient monuments, to mountains of the north to some of the best looking people on the face of god's earth.

In South Asia despite what the economists say Pakistan is far ahead of our neighbours in economic democracy and living condition of it's people. All this comes as shock to people who have just read the headlines.

Perception and reality have rarely been so divorced as they are in the case of Pakistan. That indeed is tragic.


Edit: This issue has been around for decades but has got progressively worse and post 2000 has just gone new depths. Thus it is beyond any one leader in Pakistan and Zardari or indeed Nawaz cannot be blamed entirely for this. And I don't support neither.

Agreed. However there is proximate correlation between perception and Visa arrangements. The latter are based on what officials regard are give due to each country which are based on hard reality of politics. However that informs the perception. If a USA gives travel warnings every day for Pakistan,looks at Pak visa applicants as possible bombers or Islamic jihadi's (something that actions of Pak origin people goes to confirm like the California couple or the Time Square bomber) that then does not help Pak's perception amongst US citizens. These are then amplified by US media.

Indians are getting 3 year schengen visa, thanks to hardworking employees abroad and at home in technology sectors which boost india's image on world stage.

And yes. Hands up Indian's have far better image than Pakistan. Stones and diamonds comparison. It's not so much as what good you have done. It is more that you don't plant bombs in London, New York or San Bernardino.

Although your assertion is current scenario is right, but Pakistan didn't had Visa Free entry arrangements with any country except few even before WoT, nor i am aware of Pakistan govt. doing any effort or showing interest for such thing. I hope that our security agencies will stick to this policy and also make the borders secure. Anyone want to come to Pakistan should get visa and any Pakistani want to visit other county also should get visa.

Ones your image goes sour and you become the favourite kicking ball then the media starts scouring for anything negative and you know if you look for only negative all you will see is negative. Soon enough people are only looking at the negative when the P word is used. Last week Pakistan origin scientists took part in ground breaking graivitational theory but the media was dominated by some bas*tard who stuck his finger up a girls backside. Who was Pakistani.
