Afghan Ambassador takes to social media rather than diplomacy. Closed borders is hurting so much.

Afghan Ambassador Omar Zakhilwal on Saturday said Pakistan does not have a justification for the continued closure of crossing points on the Pak-Afghan border, and that his country might send in chartered flights to airlift stranded Afghans in case the border is not reopened soon.

In a message posted to his Facebook page, Zakhilwal said he had talked with Pakistan's de facto foreign minister, Sartaj Aziz, to convey that if an opening was not allowed for the return of stranded Afghans within two days, he would ask his government to send chartered flights to lift them.

“This, however, would reflect very poorly [for Pakistan],” he added.

Zakhilwal said the argument presented by Pakistan — that the border closure is intended to stop terrorists from crossing over — does not carry any weight, as “these points such as Torkham and Spin Boldak have been manned by hundreds of military and other security personnel” and have all the necessary equipment and infrastructure in place to prevent such a possibility.

“Continuous unreasonable closure of legal Pak-Afghan trade and transit routes cannot have any other explanation except to be aimed at hurting the common Afghan people,” the envoy said in his social media post, apparently in breach of diplomatic protocol.

Editorial: Torkham hostilities

The envoy emphasised that the closure of crossing points hurts bilateral trade between the two countries, with Pakistan losing more as a result of the closures.

“Pakistan's declining export share in Afghanistan is indicative of that,” Zakhilwal said.

He also said the closure is in direct contradiction to the theme, objectives and messages of the recently-held Economic Cooperation Organisation summit in Islamabad.

Afghanistan’s top envoy said he had raised the issue of at least 25,000 Afghan nationals who had been unable to return to their country due to the closure, and have not been able to return despite repeated assurances in the past few weeks.

He elaborated that he had been given assurances that a partial opening of border crossings will be allowed to facilitate his countrymen, who he claimed had come to Pakistan either for medical treatment or personal visits.

The government had decided to seal the Torkham border crossing for an indefinite period on February 16, in the aftermath of a suicide attack at the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar which killed 90.

The border was ordered closed for all kinds of communication due to 'security concerns'.

Why all of a sudden after 40 years he is in such a hurry, was he sleeping for the last forty years, very ungrateful dude, he is clueless about being a Muslim.

While you are at it take back the millions that have been taking refuge in Pakistan for decades lolz.

.
If Afghanistan wants to get the Afghans out of Pakistaan, why is Pakistan refusing to let them go back? Wouldn't it reduce the burden on Pakistan?
Your quotations about Pakistan and Islam are way off, and if any thing sayings by Henry is 50 years old that is if it is true, but than Indians spin the matters to suit their silly ways of bringing things that are 50 years old.

You need to read what all politicians and Military Generals of US are saying about Pakiatan today dealing with terrorists. Let me jog your memory no one has except Pakoatan fixed these Terrorists.

So remember and for once stop your spins.

There wouldn't be any need of airlift that too, Official yet not spoken to his Government but issued a Facebook message by the way of jingoism. When you are in need then you have to request yet you are not that power to threaten like this. However, immature threatening message aside, we will send them all but once we are done with the faces that wanted here for their crimes yet rest of the innocent will be allowed to go with respect and love. These Afghan have been living here since decades and are not dying to go to Kabul Limited Regime so there are no hurries except for them who fears Ra'ad-ul-Fasad and other ops.

The following post by The Eagle explains it perfectly:

It was an immature statement by the ambassador, I hope he's sacked or at least we have him removed as an ambassador to Pakistan ( or close the Afghan embassy, honestly I'd be furious if an ambassador from our country pulled off a stunt like this).

At the moment, we are talking the border is ordered to open for two days. Rest about subject Ambassador, he talked in his capacity alone like every Afghan General say so. They are always talk and we must understand the worth if they deserve an answer or attention.

I think, it would be better to fence the entire border with multiple layers of security. Get China's technical/financial assistance to fence the entire border. Put smart fence all along with 3 points of regulated entry exit points for those who can show a valid authentic documentation to enter. All entries and exits should be recorded with the person's name and other info who is entering/leaving and with the name of the officer who allowed entry. All entry exits should be captured in a live recording HD camera. The ultimate decision for allowing entry should be at the discretion of the immigration officer posted at the entry points. The fence should be monitoring via drones with HD night vision capable cameras as well as manned posts with bright search lights at various distances. Live images from the drones should be broadcasted to command centers. Anyone trying to intrude thru unauthorized entry points should be warned 3 three times loud and clear and should be shot if they don't obey to back off. The fence should have 30 feet deep and over 50 feet wide trench all along the border where the terrain allows. Mine the area all along the fence and trench with clear and prominent warning signs in Urdu/English/Pushto/Uzbek/Persian.

Get a $20 billion loan for this. Security is worth every penny.

Not just PSL final but until those terrorist sanctuaries and the breeding grounds read Indian Consulate are taken care of....remember since the closure of the border, attacks on our posts are still carried out from Afghan soil.
regardless he is true that it is hurting our exports and economy of KPK and Baluchistan

Afghans have been enjoying our hospitality and free access to their ancestral land since decades... so much so that they have started taking them as their rights and us for for granted. Its time to set the record straight. Our actions should clearly tell these people that they are afghan nationals and it is their actions which will determine whether we treat them with respect or otherwise.

Where's the begger Karzai? Stupid meaningless tweet man. This fairy should have never been given refuge in Pakistan. Durrand line is permanent accept it if you don't like it draw a line across your bald head and call it disputed territory. Scum Karzai! Burn scum burn! Take your backside across to Delhi and dance for your master Modi.

I've always wondered why he doesnt just move to endia and see what their "hospitality" really entails

or perhaps not all of his ill-gotten gains and narcotics earnings have dried up just yet despite his vanity and flamboyance
