Affluent Indian families killing unborn girls

Again, I don't see what Pakistan has to do with this thread. I quoted an article from a reputable Indian source about a serious Indian problem, yet you guys wanted to derail the topic by bringing Pakistan into a thread that has nothing to do with it. Indians do the same thing about Pakistani issues all the time, but you don't see Pakistani members respond like that.

well u got it...pakistan has nothing to do with this thread, so please tell me, why this thread was started by a pakistani citizen, why do u have out internal matters????? whats wrong with you???

Why are you on a Pakistani Defense Forum in the first place? Why do you start threads on Pakistan's internal matters? Same answer.

First of all, India's national gender imbalance is the worst in recorded history, far worse than Pakistan's 102 men per 100 women.

Not quite.

OVER a quarter of all excess female deaths occur in China at birth, says the World Bank's annual World Development Report, published on September 19th. The number has risen since 1990 from 890,000 to 1.1m. These are the numbers of extra girls who would have been born if the normal sex ratio at birth (105 boys to 100 girls) had prevailed in China. It does not do so because of the practice of sex-selective abortion. Aborted girls account for the largest single share of excess female deaths worldwide, but other sorts of death have been growing faster, notably those of women of child-bearing age in Africa. The excess deaths of African women aged 15 to 49 (when compared with female death rates in rich countries) rose by 150% between 1990 and 2008. The number of excess deaths in African countries with high rates of HIV-AIDS increased by 760%. Excess female mortality is shifting from birth inEast Asia to adulthood in Africa.'

when did i start a thread on pakistani internal matters.......tell me....don't blame someone unless u have got proof????/

Ok OK, tell me frankly, if I agree to ur point (which I already did in my first post) and say that this is a bad thing for India and we need to work on this urgently.. and if all the Indian members like my point.. will u go out and get a lollypop for urself and then watch some music channel?????

I know, I know... u being the  u are.. u really enjoy tormenting the poor Indians on their negative points..and yes of course, if anyone dares to show u the mirror by reporting similar pakistani negatives, u will get the excuse of "off-topic" and "de-railing"...

TELL ME, What the he!! do u want from us?? a personal letter that we will not kill any daughter of ours???

What I want from you is the following:

a) Don't derail the topic of the thread by bringing Pakistan, HDI, F-35, space programs, aid to Afghanistan; or your personal attacks against me on a thread that has nothing to do with these topics.

b) If you have any good logical reasoning as to why the child sex ratio is getting worse with time, please state it.

c) If you have a good, feasible solution for this problem, please state it.

d) If you can't do a, b or c; please don't post on the thread.

Killing of infants on the rise in Pakistan

July 20, 2011|By Reza Sayah, CNN

At a morgue in Pakistan's largest city, five linen pouches -- each the size of a loaf of bread -- line the shelf of a walk-in freezer.

Wrapped inside each small sack is the corpse of an infant.

The babies are victims of what one relief agency calls Pakistan's worst unfolding tragedy: the killing and dumping of newborns.

"Sometimes they hang them, and sometimes they kill by the knife, and sometimes we find bodies which have been burned," said Anwar Kazmi, a manager at Edhi Foundation, Pakistan's largest privately run social service and relief agency.

Records at Edhi Foundation show that more than 1,200 newborns were killed and dumped in Pakistan last year, an increase of about 200 from the previous year.

Families view many of these children as illegitimate in a culture that condemns those born outside of marriage.

Statistics show that roughly nine out of 10 are baby girls, which families may consider too costly to keep in a country where women frequently are not allowed to work.

The babies are usually just days old. Their corpses are often dumped in Karachi's sprawling garbage dumps, where they're sometimes mutilated by street animals, Kazmi said. He estimates that hundreds of baby corpses are never found.

The head of Edhi Foundation, 83-year-old Abdul Sattar Edhi, blames Pakistan's crippling poverty and a government that, for decades, has failed to educate the masses, generate jobs and provide citizens with the most basic needs.

"The distribution of resources by the government is wrong," Edhi said. "Many people don't pay taxes; there's no charity, and what you get from the government is all based on your wealth."

The Pakistani government has said it's improving education, but 55 million Pakistanis remain illiterate, according to the United Nations. And the government is billions of dollars in debt while entangled in a costly fight against the Taliban and other Islamic militant groups.

The killing of newborns gets little attention in Pakistan, and rarely are they investigated by a police force that's often poorly trained, lacks resources and stays focused on what's perceived to be more important crimes.

In many parts of the world, female infanticide is still practiced through direct violence but also by intentional neglect, according to the World Health Organization.

Do you have to be an Indian to post messages about India ?
If so then why are so many messages related to China and Pakistan posted by Indians here on PDF ?

Haha .. is it some sort of joke?

You have already stated many things apart from unborn girls including poverty already in this thread..

How much of offtopic is unborn from newborns... ??

First of all, this thread isn't even about Pakistan (& talking about it is derailing the thread), but even when we talked about it, you weren't ready to accept official figures. Secondly, you talked about India's space program, HDI, aid to Afghanistan & other stuff, which had nothing to do with the topic. You & Spark constantly made personal attacks against me, about a 'disease' I have, which has nothing to do with the topic of the thread. Not one of your posts on this thread actually talks about the topic of the thread, the reasons why the problem is so prevalent, & what can be done to eliminate it.

Bilal let me tell u, my respect for u has suddenly jumped 1000 times and its now almost at the level of a mine!!!

ok ok, jokes apart... I'll answer u sensibly, the way u have asked:

1. I never talked about anything related to pakistan till now in this thread, and any moderator at defence.pk can give an assurance for that!!!:azn:

2. the sex-ratio is getting worse because everyone wants a boy nowadays... many reasons- a support for old age, the dowry issue, the social respect thing, the strength that a son gives to the family- all of these result in people wanting a boy child and going for illegal and inhuman means towards that...

3. As i stated, stricter laws, and moreover ensuring that these laws are followed.... demotivating dowry and strict punishment to be ensured for such cases, and last but not the least, vigilant actions by normal sane people like us.

hope now u'll say Good Night here!!!:cheesy:

Nothing personal.. its just when somebody whenever online here posts on India-negative news starting flame wars seems a bit odd.

Its obvious what intentions the poster has and sad to see mods turning a blind eye.

Even i want to test these skills .. checking negative news on you and flooding here..

Lets join together and bring the quality of the forum down the drain.. what say ,.... a new partnership???
