But my question is not that. What the use of making an advanced airframe, with lots of composite, which has a life on the basis of western turbofan?

Not quiet sure what you mean, the aim on composites had different reasons, weight reduction, less number of parts, which eases maintenance, RCS reduction to an extend.

Of course, any help is welcomed and the Israelis helped DRDO a lot in the radar field. But first we must get them on board and they need US approval to share anything from the 2052, till then we remain limited to what DRDO develops and before the puls doppler MMR is ready and proven with good performance, it's pointless to put too much hopes on an AESA development.
Still amazed how little use we take from French companies, that will divert similart techs and systems through MMRCA to India anyway and focusing on commonalities, rather making LCA more interational than it already is.



Not necessarily, Rafale, EF or J10B will have AESAs withouth changing the engines.

Maybe their engines already supply enough power for those to accomodate AESA

Depends on the radar, but since we don't have an AESA now anyway and the increased thrust of MK2 is mainly a navy requirement for the operations of N-LCA on carriers, it's doubtful that the thrust increase has anything to do with the radar. Besides, afaik the RBE 2 AESA was even tested on the Mirage 2000, which has less power than the Rafale too. Also keep in mind, that AESA in most cases in combination with other upgrades adds credible weight to a fighter, so increased thrust can also have to counter that, rather than the aim of powering the radar.

I was talking about the airframe's life, which is based on western standards.

BTW, what the hell problem with folded wings? Delta design and high use of composite?

What about JF-17 (RD93) can they change radar to AESA without new engine? @Oscar

Early days yet, the Uttam is a nice start and a great addition to the LCA but for the larger a/c like MiG-29Ks (UPGs are not going to be around long enough to justify another MLU) then a more powerful AESA variant will need to be deigned with more T/R modules but once you have the Uttam under the belt this should be a natural progression....

We "now" have nothing more than a mock up, we don't know how long it takes to develop it, we don't know how long it takes till it will be fully multi mode capable or if we need Israeli support again and keep in mind that the first fighter with it, the LCA MK2 will be inducted only after 2020, so that's not a short term solution. For the Mig 29K it surely would be a great replacement for the Zhuk ME, if the Russians allow it. That's why I always hoped for indigenous AESA and Kaveri on the Mig, which would give us both, a capable platform and the maximum of indigenous technologies, far more capable than N-LCA.
