If Pakistan procured 18 (or 36) Eurofighters Tranche 3a, even at over 100 million euros each, would it have a significant enough psychological effect of blunting the Indian Rafale purchase and other modernizations to make them worth it? The Eurofighter can carry nearly any system the Rafale can, especially the Meteor, but is optimized for Air to Air while the Rafale is optimized towards Strike. The precedent for this would be the PAF F-16s eating at the IAF since the 80s, even though they procured the Mirage 2000s and Mig-29s. In that case it was just 40 PAF F-16s against much more enemy fighters, but the 40 F-16s held the line for decades. The other factor is the Eurofighter is the best European Fighter, and the reverence the Indians have for Europeans should play into the Psychological factor which even the J-10CE, even if it matched capabilities, would not have.
This should be considered with the Future plan to have AESA and PL-15E/PL-10E equipped JF-17 Block 3 becoming the backbone of the Fleet.
