PAF is acquiring following five Saab 2000 aircraft under this deal.

The Pakistan Air Force chief, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, told AFM in late April that the air arm is set to receive three new Saab 2000 Erieye airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft. The first will be delivered in December and the remaining pair will arrive next year.

Saab issued a press release on May 15 announcing that it had signed an AEW&C contract worth SEK 1.35bn (£120m), with deliveries being made from 2017 until 2020. It will not disclose the customer, as is its usual policy, but it is likely this is the same deal.

Saab have been a reliable partner and many would imagine further collaboration with Gripen could / or would follow

It means more assets for monitoring EEZ, which is good for Pakistan.

.
Well will give time to service the older planes and let the new ones fly more often

Please think before you post and back up your assertions with facts.

The system is not latest Global Eye so possibly it was bit difficult to sale older Erieye version to new customer.

'Possibly' and 'probably' are words that do not support facts.

One Erieye was destroyed, so the additional 3 will make for a total of 6. Also, the initial cost of buying was much higher due to the need of absorbing logistics, maintenance and training infrastructure. Based on the MoDP report it seems the cost of each Erieye is $130 m without ancillary equipment. The order made in May is likely a cash payment for the 2nd of 3 (the first being the replacement for the original 4th, cash payment was made in 2016).
Have u got anynews regarding additional ZDK-03 being acquired , I am hearing that maybe 2 more can come and they may go to SAC other location then karachi , They are gonna operated as flights of Main sqn.

PAF bets on the Erieyes more than the Chinese AWACS. The erieyes are some powerful stuff. A generation ahead of the Chinese systems.
