Abu Ghraib abuse photos 'show rape'
Photographs of alleged prisoner abuse which Barack Obama is attempting to censor include images of apparent rape and sexual abuse, it has emerged.

At least one picture shows an American soldier apparently raping a female prisoner while another is said to show a male translator raping a male detainee.
Further photographs are said to depict sexual assaults on prisoners with objects including a truncheon, wire and a phosphorescent tube.

Another apparently shows a female prisoner having her clothing forcibly removed to expose her breasts.
Detail of the content emerged from Major General Antonio Taguba, the former army officer who conducted an inquiry into the Abu Ghraib jail in Iraq.
Allegations of rape and abuse were included in his 2004 report but the fact there were photographs was never revealed. He has now confirmed their existence in an interview with the Daily Telegraph.
The graphic nature of some of the images may explain the US President’s attempts to block the release of an estimated 2,000 photographs from prisons in Iraq and Afghanistan despite an earlier promise to allow them to be published.
Maj Gen Taguba, who retired in January 2007, said he supported the President’s decision, adding: “These pictures show torture, abuse, rape and every indecency.
“I am not sure what purpose their release would serve other than a legal one and the consequence would be to imperil our troops, the only protectors of our foreign policy, when we most need them, and British troops who are trying to build security in Afghanistan.
“The mere description of these pictures is horrendous enough, take my word for it.”
In April, Mr Obama’s administration said the photographs would be released and it would be “pointless to appeal” against a court judgment in favour of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
But after lobbying from senior military figures, Mr Obama changed his mind saying they could put the safety of troops at risk.
Earlier this month, he said: “The most direct consequence of releasing them, I believe, would be to inflame anti-American public opinion and to put our troops in greater danger.”
It was thought the images were similar to those leaked five years ago, which showed naked and bloody prisoners being intimidated by dogs, dragged around on a leash, piled into a human pyramid and hooded and attached to wires.
Mr Obama seemed to reinforce that view by adding: “I want to emphasise that these photos that were requested in this case are not particularly sensational, especially when compared to the painful images that we remember from Abu Ghraib.”
The latest photographs relate to 400 cases of alleged abuse between 2001 and 2005 in Abu Ghraib and six other prisons. Mr Obama said the individuals involved had been “identified, and appropriate actions” taken.
Maj Gen Taguba’s internal inquiry into the abuse at Abu Ghraib, included sworn statements by 13 detainees, which, he said in the report, he found “credible based on the clarity of their statements and supporting evidence provided by other witnesses.”
Among the graphic statements, which were later released under US freedom of information laws, is that of Kasim Mehaddi Hilas in which he says: “I saw [name of a translator] ******* a kid, his age would be about 15 to 18 years. The kid was hurting very bad and they covered all the doors with sheets. Then when I heard screaming I climbed the door because on top it wasn’t covered and I saw [name] who was wearing the military uniform, putting his **** in the little kid’s ***…. and the female soldier was taking pictures.”
The translator was an American Egyptian who is now the subject of a civil court case in the US.
Three detainees, including the alleged victim, refer to the use of a phosphorescent tube in the sexual abuse and another to the use of wire, while the victim also refers to part of a policeman’s “stick” all of which were apparently photographed.

Bloody savages these American scumbags are!

Insha Allah, they will get what they deserve!

Tyranny can only go on for so long!

May Allah (swt) bless our Muslim Brothers/Sisters in Iraq who are suffering by these fascist scumbags! Ameen!

Pakistanis will always be with the Iraqis, Insha Allah!

This truly makes me extremely sad... No Muslim woman should suffer like this... No person in the world should suffer like this!

I feel so angry and sad at the same time... But I know that justice will always prevail! Insha Allah/Alhamdulillah!

May Allah (swt) curse America, and destroy these low-lives! Ameen!

May Allah (swt) make the Muslims & Pakistan strong enough and united enough to counter these dirty barbarians! Ameen!

Our brothers and sisters are suffering while we do nothing... This is truly disgraceful!

Save your bullshit American

We are watching, and we know the dark truth of Iraq's US-led invasion and occupation.

These pictures you present are a rare occurrence, the exception and not the rule. You can try and duke it out for the last grain of dignity your shameful Army and political establishment has left, but understand you will be met with resistance far greater then what you can combat.

I suggest you wake up, and realize the BS that your pushing is phony, false, and fanciful you think many US soldiers are playing with Iraqi children on a swing set? or see-saw? Utter rubbish.

Not only are you Army men despicable and degenerates but many of your own women, both are disgusting, hardly is there a good man to be found.

We remember Abu Ghraib, Baghram, Massacre at Haditha, the brave resistance of Fallujah and Ramadi!

Your decline is promised, not by AK-47's, Kalashnikovs, or road side bombs, but by something far greater.

Here is 'the rule', or the norm...

Inside Iraq: Living with the enemy - CNN.com
Iraqis turned on each other, neighbors slaughtered neighbors, friends betrayed one another. It was the sheer degradation of society on a shocking and utterly petrifying scale.

Raed's mother can barely form a coherent sentence. Her voice shakes with every word, uncontrollable tears pour down her face. Her hands tremble holding Raed's worn-out photograph. From time to time she caresses the image, the face that she will never touch again.

"I don't sleep." She stutters. "I take pills ... I live on pills."

"Nights aren't nights anymore, days aren't days. They cut his hands off, they cut his head off."

Not only are you Army men despicable and degenerates but many of your own women, both are disgusting, hardly is there a good man to be found.
Got news for you, pal...Western blond bimbos are the hits among the oil sheiks. Same for our **** among those in the ME that can operate a computer and have Internet access.

We remember Abu Ghraib, Baghram, Massacre at Haditha, the brave resistance of Fallujah and Ramadi!
You mean the same way you 'remember' how Iraqi athletes were beaten and tortured by Uday and Qusay for losing matches?

Your decline is promised, not by AK-47's, Kalashnikovs, or road side bombs, but by something far greater.
Let us take a look at this statement...

That is hilarious.

I have been to the ME many times, from participating in Bright Star exercises with the Egyptians, to training Turkish avionics technicians to finally being in post-Saddam Kuwait. EVERY government over there is a 'fascist' government. Iraq today is far more free than they were under Saddam Hussein. They are free to be entrepreuners, to read whatever they want, to associate with whomever they like, and yes...even to join al-Qaeda to kill their own countrymen. I dare say post-Saddam Iraqis are even more free than YOU. So spare US all your crocodile tears for the Iraqis people at large. Where was YOUR outrage when Uday and Qusay kidnapped young girls off the streets to rape?

In my opinion any excuse to trivialize such brute behaviour tantamounts to condone of such acts.

You are absolutely right.
I recently saw a few videos. very sad.
One guy( he is not even military) is sniping Iraqis for no reason.
In another one, they military contractors are just driving around town and shooting at people for no reason. In the last one, they make these poor children run after their truck for almost 100 yards or even more before they even give 1 or 2 kids some water.

True... Americans can spread propaganda and BS all they want, but the truth will always leak out... But the problem lies in how many people are willing to listen and act?

Can the muslim world count on YOU to do both? Your mission, should you decided to accept it, is to leave the comfort of your home, go to Iraq and join the jihadists.

Ok there are some good people and bad people in every country, culture and society, If some American have done some wrong stuff, we cannot blame that to whole US. Same way as Pakistan and other Country Just because of few people we cannot blame that whole religion or country for that. I know what happened in Abu Gharib was not right and lot of American know that too. But just because of that we cannot say that each and every American who is serving in army or military is like that. So I think we should not argue on that because there will be no result coming out of that anyways.

.
Some people here sound like Sean Hannity.
If we go by "some" theory, then what is up with Steroetyping & general distrust of muslims in the west??????????
Counter accusations are not a good defense actually. people form the"free" world should remember that truth must be upheld no matter what one's emotions & sense of patriotism says.
It is not like a "few" cases. There are several & many more we will
never know about. Speaking about these things should make one"more" American, not less. no?
