He is spot on. That is what diplomacy is all about. Nobody asked for any basis this was a hypothetical question. So diplomatic way is to give an open ended answer. As a PM his job is to get best for Pakistan not create issue which can be easily avoided.,.,.,.,.,.,

There is a list where he created issue because of his immaturity. Saudi Arabia is another, they were your friend and look where the relationship is now. UAE another.
There are ways to handle this question. First this was a journalist asking not a formal request. He could have simply said that its a hypothetical question, when request comes parliament will decide. If you do not understand this basic diplomacy then nothing much remain to be discussed.bases are not open ended question, its not up for discussion. they will never be given again not in a million years!
Open ended answers have only resulted in elevated pressure to “do more” and eventually capitulation and Pakistanis dying as a result. He was right to put an end to all hypothetical and theoretical possibilities right there and then. There are ways to handle this question. First this was a journalist asking not a formal request. Disagree. You do not have to do anything till formal request comes. When formal request comes you can reply in private and said no in a diplomatic language. Has same result but less impact.Open ended answers have only resulted in elevated pressure to “do more” and eventually capitulation and Pakistanis dying as a result. We have seen exactly how the game was played in the past 2 decades. Op Ed’s in NY Times, Washington Post. Hypothetical questions on CNN. Then articles with “anonymous sources”. Then blaming Pakistan of not doing enough and/or double game. Then a nervous establishment advising its necessary (for one last) and forcing it on the nation.Disagree. You do not have to do anything till formal request comes. When formal request comes you can reply in private and said no in a diplomatic language. Has same result but less impact.

The way to handle such an absurd question was to make it clear that it is out of the question i.e. it is non negotiable, which is what IK did. There are ways to handle this question. I can get the exact same results with much better language. That is expected from diplomats and head of states.I put it to you.
What do you think the reaction would be from the president of USA if Pakistani Journo would ask if Pakistan Army be allowed bases in America to bomb Islamophobic Neo Nazis or Klu klux Klan in Alabama.
Absolutely Not is a mild response.
Your problem is that you are so slavishly brainwashed by years of abuse from these criminals that you have forgotten your god given right to independence and sovereignty and are happy to take the crumbs from uncle sams table.
It shouldnt even be discussed in parliament. That is shameful in itself.
Get out of this slave mentality
