They are looking in perfect condition. I have never seen hundreds of MBTs displayed in a regular parking lot in any country other than Egypt. I hope it's just for show and the Egyptian army isn't keeping together their most modern tanks like that.
The majority of people, when they look at a photo like this would never understand what is going on. Regardless of knowledge. Experience is another matter. One who's experienced in military affairs whether from participation or simply studying for a long time would probably stop and indulge the photo a lot more and get a true understanding of what is going on.
Most who are not huge fans of anything Egypt would instantly mock it, make fun of it while adding that leaving the tanks out like that exposed for any period of time would only make Israel wipe them all out in one fell swoop. Obviously, such individuals have not only the military IQ of a cucumber, but their general IQ is that of a stick of wood. That also comes with a certain level of hatred because to think a huge and experienced military like the Egyptian Armed Forces would ever leave their tanks lined up outside in the wide open without any protection of any kind is like calling the president of the United States a dumb person with only kindergarten level experience. To think that level of incompetence is what exists in the Egyptian army is shameful! It's unforgivable unless that individual is mentally challenged. Then it's no fault of his own. But those who know better, lack any sense of critical thinking whatsoever, regardless of bias.
Now, those in the know-how and even those who aren't yet possess a certain degree of intelligence in general, even just street smarts, would take a closer look at this pic and then they would start critically asking themselves:
1) Why would they line all these tanks up like that? (Obviously the first question that comes to mind).
2) How difficult is it to accomplish such a feat? Now this is the million-dollar question because that is the whole essence of the photo. Think of the gargantuan effort it would take to get 100 tanks perfectly lined up in each row without a single one out of line. What effort would it take to space each 50-ton tank with the perfect and equal spacing between each one. How many individuals would be needed to accomplish this display? Who is the main individual who is responsible for running the entire event and is he respected by those he commands? That would affect the time it takes to get all those tanks in place.
What about the track marks on the ground? I bet you didn't notice that by the time they moved 100 tanks into perfectly synchronized positions, that the sanded ground would be ripped to shreds yet look how smooth it is all around. Even between the tanks where it's much narrower makes you think what kind of machine did they use? Not a single sand pebble out of line! Think of the skill, effort discipline and time it would take to accomplish that. That's what the generals take into account when inspecting the lineup. Not only that, but they also inspect the tank crews and their proper attire. Whether there is a single button missing, a loose shoelace, and stain, a wrinkled shirt or pants etc. It is super rigorous and hardly a joke by any means. Unfortunately many make it out to be either out of bias and/or envy or just plain old ignorance.
What about the cannon muzzle? Everyone is at the same exact, perfect angle. Must be a standard setting because that would be a NIGHTMARE if they needed to be lined up by eye and 6 people trying to communicate the process!! Even if there is a setting to make it much easier, the ground needs to be at the same level throughout the entire line!!!! If there is a dip here or there, out goes the perfect lineup and what a drag it would be to fix such a thing.
I could go on and on about many other disciplined and difficult or painstaking tasks needed to achieve what we see in that photo but I'll stop now since I think I made my point. Most people would simply glance at that and likely mock it and make fun of it based on their bias and completely dismiss the actual details and effort and teamwork it took to set up that super impressive Egyptian Abrams Tank and Crews lineup for generals inspection day. Glad you asked that question as even I forgot what it takes and it's nice to get a refresher, as well as show all others that it's simply not an easy joke. Cheers.
A bit of a giveaway, the chalk grid is visible. Clearly marked to make lining up much easier.
