New Delhi,Feb 10 (TruthDive): AAP victory predicted by 5 post poll and pre-poll results show that it was not a bazaarulu one as Modi said.
One outcome is that the strategy adopted by AAP has to be learnt by opposition parties who wish to counter BJP. Though there is a talk that Kejriwal will emerge as a leader to take on BJP’s Modi, the likes of Nitish Kumar, Lalu, Mulayam and the Mamata and Left accepting it in their own space is not so easy. All these parties had supported AAP but whether it will allow Kejriwal into their domain has to be seen.
Voting pattern shows that rural Delhi and minorities voted for AAP and that BJP lost only one percent vote share while Congress lost around 9%.
BJP did so many mistakes that AAP could capitalize on. BJP was under the impression that Delhi voters would vote only for them as it being in power at the Centre can give the capital the much needed concessions and more development. This theory came from the assumption that Congress ruled Delhi delivered because it was in power at the Centre.
To reinforce it, BJP gave legal sanctions to unauthorized slums. BJP did not see that AAP had through its volunteers taken up many woes of the residents. The rural side of Delhi was captured by AAP as it went to town with the changes in land acquisition Act.
The defeat of a three-time MLA Iqubal who won on different party tickets shows that caste did not work.
Reading on the wall is there for Left and opposition parties. Urban voters have their own agenda and it is not something that can be played around. Power bills, water and policing are things that city dwellers look for. Monthly bills are more important to the middle class.
AAP has said that it will concede opposition leader status to BJP though it does not have the number. It is a gesture that BJP denied to Congress in Lok Sabha. The victory reminds one of the recent victories in Latin America. The defeat of Kiran Bedi is worse than that of Sheila Dikshit in 2013 against Kejriwal. Bedi lost to an opponent who is not in limelight and the constituency was represented by Dr Harsh Vardhan five times.
VHP and Hindu outfits say that it has won as there is no Congress MLA in Delhi and the slogan of Congress free India has come true. This shows a reason that Modi and suits and his wooing US with VHP and RSS going on a conversion bid, is not a right formula for a nation to go forward.
