It has been one whole year since legendary Qawwal Amjad Farid Sabri was gunned down in Karachi’s Liaquatabad area on 16th of Ramazan, yet he remains alive in the hearts of his fans to this day and will continue to in future with immortal pieces, such as Tajdar-e-Haram and Bhar do Jholi.
The late musician’s family, including his brother Sarwat Farid, on Sunday, visited the site where Sabri was shot at by two then-unknown gunmen on a motorbike on June 22, last year, as his car drove off a bridge in the congested area. He expired en route to the hospital, according to the police surgeon.
Speaking to media, Sarwat Farid talked about how despite the facts that arrests were made earlier, his late brother’s assassins have still not been unmasked. The brother urged the authorities to proceed with naming the killers, as it has been a year since Sabri’s death.
“The Liaquatabad underpass should be named after Amjad Sabri,” Sarwat Farid said, adding that the memory of the singer remains in the family’s hearts.
