A World of Tomorrow is On its Way to Reshape the Education System in Pakistan

Education is a hot topic considering that only a fraction of the national budget is allocated towards it. Despite the subpar focus on education from our government, private schools and organizations are trying to improve Pakistan’s situation on this front.



The School of Tomorrow (SOT) conference is one such event to discuss the future of education in Pakistan and in general. Started around 16 years ago by Beaconhouse these conferences have been held on a yearly basis to: “redefine education and to explore the shape of schools in a yet-unknown future.”.

This year’s SOT conference is titled “A World of Tomorrow”. According to the event website:

A World of Tomorrow hopes to provide a setting to deepen our social discourse by introducing inspirational new ideas. This unique conference will bring together members of the public with leading thinkers from Pakistan and around the world to discuss emerging issues within contemporary societies and how these may contribute to a better future for our children and their children.

A variety of topics related the future of schools will be discussed. All of these topics will fall under 5 broad categories which include:

  • A Digital Future
  • A Balanced Future
  • A Safer Future
  • An Expressive Future
  • An Inclusive Future
More than a 100 different speakers will participate including:

  • Ms. Jehan Ara, President P@SHA
  • Ms. Maryam Aurangzeb, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting
  • Dr. Kesar Bengali, Senior Economist
  • Dr. Atta ur Rehman, Chairman of UN Committee on Science Technology and Innovation and former Minister of Science and Technology/Higher Education
  • H E Ivan Ivanissevich, Ambassador of Argentina to Pakistan
  • Dr. Lawrence Bernard Michael Burke, Director of Education, Beaconhouse School System
  • and several others
Event dates and timings
The event is set to happen at 11th and 12th March at the Pak-China Friendship Center, Islamabad.

First day’s proceedings begin at 1 pm and will conclude at 6 pm. Second day’s programs will start at 11 am and will finish at 6 pm.

There is no entry fee or booking required for participating in the event. Guests will be served at a first come first serve basis and the doors will be closed when the seating capacity is reached.
