I'm a fan of Ming dynasty clothing, so sometime I can identify the resemblance of their Royal clothing to our late Ming clothing. Just like the Korean, they copied it and changed it to their unique style.

Are there still relatives of the old imperial family?

For example in Korea, the members of the Korean Imperial Family, to this day, still exist. Tho many of them do not live in Korea, ironically. Many of their descendents live in , don't be surprised, Japan. lol.

One of the heirs of the Imperial Korean Throne, Imperial Prince Yi Wu, who was an officer in the Imperial Japanese Army, actually. Of the Imperial Guards.

The last Crown Princess of Korea, Yi Bangja (born as Princess Masako Nashimoto) had ruled with the Korean Crown Prince Yi Un (who held a position as General) in the Imperial Army.

Crown Prince Yi Un, the last Emperor of Korea, of the Imperial House of Yi (Korean Imperial Household).

In fact this summer my brothers and i are planning on a backpacking trip to China (going to meet up with my cousins in Guangzhou). We might consider stopping by Viet Nam, since the cost from HK to Hanoi is so cheap. Cathay Pacific has direct flights from HK to Saigon, too.

Good theory. That may be true.

It may be an influence from HK. But there are many older cities that HK are similar to. Ho Chi Minh does reassemble HK because of that river.

HK is more like Manhattan City in New York.

But as for Vietnam club scene. I mostly enjoy live bars such as this one.

if you have a chance to visit VN, nha-trang is a nice place, where I grew up. beach is great, also sea foods. plenty of good hotels. from cheap to expensive. or small towns like phan thiec, da lac. russian holiday makers love phan thiec. local people or tourism buero call the town sometimes as the Crimea, because it is full of russians in summer.

So, are we expecting the Russian to annex Nha Trang soon? Like what they do with Crimea LOL

On a more serious note. Vietnam have the world most kick arse beaches in the world. I have the chance to visit the China Beach in Da Nang which my dad keep talking about when he was in Vietnam with the Navy Hospital. Really beautiful. And the surf, it could easily beats beaches in Puerto Rico, Sydney and Hawai'i

I would guess because the descendants of Prince Yi have Japanese blood? Specifically, Princess Yi Bangja was actually a member of the Japanese Imperial Family. This makes current descendants of the Korean Imperial Family directly connected to the Japanese Imperial Family.

The son of Crown Prince Yi Un and Crown Princess Yi Bangja was Prince Yi Gu, who had passed away in Tokyo, Japan in 2005. Interesting to note that Prince Yi Gu was born Kitashirakawa Palace, which was afforded to the Crown Prince Yi Un. In fact the late Prince Yi Gu is also a member of the Japanese Imperial Family by way of his mother, Crown Princess Yi Bangja, or known through her birth name Imperial Princess Masako of Nashimoto. Princess Masako of Nashimoto is related to the Imperial House directly because her grandfather was Prince Kuno of Asahiko, who was the son of the Emperor Ninko, and was an Imperial Privy Councilor to The Emperor Meiji. Princess Masako of Nashimoto was also the first cousin of Empress Kojun, who was the wife of Emperor Showa.

So in other words the Korean Crown Prince Yi Gu is not only pretender to the Korean Imperial Throne, but is a direct relative to the Japanese Imperial Family, and in his own veins, runs the blood of the Great Emperor Meiji. This is why the descendants of Prince Yi Gu remain in Japan. They are not only heirs to the Korean Imperial Family but are also of the Japanese Imperial Family.

It is a very unique, special relationship.
