This is the 155mm Field Howitzer 77. It's one of the deadliest artillery pieces in the world. It was manufactured by Swedish weapons company Bofors in the 80s, but this model is new—a complete mechanical and electronics overhaul over the old one.

It is called the 155mm Field Howitzer 77 B02. The Indian Army is retrofitting 410 of them for deployment in 2013.

Watch them demonstrating it to the public in this hilarious video. It makes you think the whole thing is a joke until the terrifying explosion at the end.

I don't know why they need such a deadly weapon. Looking at this, they can probably kill their enemies by dancing like this in front of them.

Funny ;). That "dance" is to entertain the spectators. Here is the more normal way to fire that awesome gun..

Tiger Hill - Kargil's Turning Point Part 1of3 - YouTube

You people should know this better. Check out 1:45 to 2:55. The Indian Army's assault on Tiger Hill during the Kargil conflict! No wonder those "pesky intruders" ran away!

Clowns should've "danced and fired" at point 5353 too .... probably then they would have been able to re-capture it from Pakistan? :woot:

Sigh..

.. and then people feel bad on being called ' bloody civilians' !

What the uninitiated saw was a demonstration most probably at The School of Artillery , Deolali . This is for the uninitiated and open to the media .

What was shown was the ' Gun Drill' in operating a field artillery piece. The delibrate actions shown such as keeping the hands close to the chest were for safety reasons which are mandatory while handling such weapons . In the gun area no slouching is permitted hence the crew runs with knees in line with the belts - those who find it funny are requested to try this for 5 mins and realise the levels of physical fitness needed.

Lastly, this is not how weapons are fired in actual combat - the gun drills shown were for dopes who call gun drills dancing & find it funny.

The drills at Nowshera would also possibly be the same or similar.

Don't worry bro..everybody with an iota of brain will understand the reasons behind the various 'moves'. Also those who complains that the deployment of the gun took too long doesn't realize that it may be deliberately slowed down so that the commentator can keep up.
