ميں يہ نشاندہی بھی کر دوں کہ پاکستان کے قريب تمام ٹی وی نيٹ ورکس پر تواتر کے ساتھ ايسے پروگرامز، ٹاک شوز اور دستاويزی فلميں دکھائ جاتی ہيں جن ميں امريکی حکومت کی پاليسيوں پر يکطرفہ تنقید کی جاتی ہے۔
يہ نقطہ بھی اہم ہے کہ خود امريکہ کے اندر ايسے کئ اخبارات اور ٹی وی چينلز موجود ہيں جو امريکی حکومت کی پاليسيوں کے حوالے سے واضح بغض رکھتے ہيں۔ امريکہ کے اندر ميڈيا کے قائم کردہ تاثر اور اثر ورسوخ کا امريکی حکومت پر سياسی لحاظ سے بہت زيادہ اثر اور نقصان کا امکان موجود ہوتا ہے۔ اگر اس کے باوجود امريکی حکومت نے امريکہ کے اندر ميڈيا نيٹ ورکس کو روکنے يا ان پر قدغن لگانے کی ضرورت محسوس نہيں کی تو ايک بيرونی ملک کے ميڈيا نيٹ ورکس کو اس حد تک کنٹرول کرنے کی خواہش کی کيا منطق رہ جاتی ہے؟ امريکی حکومت کے پاس کسی بھی ملک کے ميڈیا کو کنٹرول کرنے کے ليے نہ تو وسائل ہيں اور نہ اس کی کوئ خواہش۔

It would be completely bollox if our media sang songs of its financiers all the time don't you think?
First rule of propaganda is to make it look harmless so normal people (stupid masses) buy it without scrutiny. The bullcrap has to be wrapped in chocolate to make it look like chocolate balls, because no one eats bullcrap unless it looks like chocolate balls.
The Pakistani TV stations and newspapers whom you bankroll have to keep a balance between pro American propaganda and anti American critique so they can get away with it without being seen as state department's offshore microphone desk. You cannot bring Jay Carney in Pakistan and hope to get away with it, therefore it has to be local media whores, who'd say anything as long as they get paid.
We don't care how free or unfree American media is in America, how harmful or fruitful it is for America, how much critique or hymns are sung for the American govt in the American media. We don't give two hoots about it because
it doesn't affect us!
We however have the right to scrutinize
our media and
who's financing it because what's said in
our media
directly affects us. So if someone is paying
our media to say something that serves interests other than Pakistan's interests, it will have to be held by its tail like a mouse with its head on a burning gas stove.
Imagine if we were financing
your media, how big of a scandal that would be? - Would
you accept any 'self righteous' explanation produced out of a kosher intent?. I don't think so. You are harming not only our country but our way of life and our values through your funding (bribes) to our media outlets. You as financiers may get away with it because Jesus you are the superpower but these media houses are
here forever and would have to pay a hefty price, bigger than their original bargain.
A better solution that would be more effective in countering any perceived situations as you describe it above (not necessarily correctly) is to offer a more compelling narrative through other media under State and/or Army control. That is the way to play the game.
American ''Janissaries'' in our media will not buy such a narrative. They will ridicule it and stick with what they get paid to say.
