A serious question to pakistanis

I heard (OK read) many times on this forum from pakistanis that pakistan is much liberal country than portrayed on media. To be honest there might be some truth to it..otherwise you don't celebrate Sufis and songs of bulle shah(which sometimes criticises mullahs and extremists)..I also noticed that burkha culture is much less in pakistan when compared to india(my observation after watching common women on number of pakistani news channels).
However, the killing of Punjab governor and veneration of that killer, judges scared to even give out judgements give a completely different picture of pakistan. When did this degeneration in pakistan start? Or was there this extremism always present in pakistan but was out in open only recently?

I remember reading exactly mumtaz qadri like incident a while back . Arya samajis published a book called rangeela rasool in 1927. The publisher was killed by a young man named ilmuddin..British government sent him to gallows..some lakhs of people attended his funeral in Lahore(including Iqbal)..This incident shows there was extremism in pakistan even before independence (after this incident British govt formulated blasphemy law)

What is true?Has pakistan always been a society run by extremism and it's advocates or is it only a recent phenomena?

Pakistan is a country of 180 Million people. Pakistan is a country of many races, ethnicities, cultures, ideologies, beliefs, traditions and ect...
It is a flexible and a pretty liberal (in my opinion) country.

You will have moderates and extremes on both sides. We have the best and worst of both sides.

Small people here make big noise; people like in other country - are divided on many issues and subjects.

That's all I can say.

Not only Pakistanis but Kashmiris also same we are not that burka posh as portrayed on media even burka culture is more in India in comparison with Kashmir and Pakistan. But the real thing is that we are Muslims either burka posh or in jeans but we love our Prophet and holy book Quran and can't tolerate any nonsense by anyone. I hope you got my point.

No..a meaningful dialogue about the exact time and reasons behind extremists calling the shots there.

Every single man is an extremist from Inside in one form or another. you just have to ignite their type of belief to see a real animal inside their beautiful body. Europeans were neck to neck for centuries over religious beliefs. ever heard of "terrorist" buzzword back then? why because they were white or christian? or both? Europeans came to their senses after shedding a lot of blood. Muslims will too Inshallah.

Well... Pakistan paved its way towards extremism in 90's regime and then smoothly it's been piled up and burst now in the form of Kot Radha Kishan or Honour killing...

Intolerance is the main factor..certain people have tolerance to a certain things while others don't.. most of the time for religious and social norms tolerance goes vain..
One more thing which I observed the elite class and lower class is more liberal compared to middle class..

we have more then 20 languages
we have a very big area with world 6th largest population
we have all kind of humans and its free country so there are atheists agnostics religious sectarians Muslims non Muslims extremists and all kind of believers of theories like liberals fascists Maoists feminists Islamist Marxists communists and blabla

Pakistan is getting more and more open country day by day . i have notice pakistan is more liberal now then before .and every passing day Pakistan is being more free country . but yes other side Islamist also no sitting and just watching they want to push back pakistan but so far they are losing . killing a man and yes judges were not feeling well but QADRI convicted prosecuted and hanged by same Pakistanis sir . what you seen abut this ?we hanged him .

old mindset and feudalism is still there but they can not stop modernism and liberals are winning day by day .
pakistnai women are much more free brave and open then they were even last month day by day trend are changing . pakistan is not what your media and Bollywood show to you sir please have a look on daily images from sites of normal life like getty images and here forum threads also can help you to see real pics of normal life in Pakistan

The problem here is that with less education comes more emotions, it becomes easier to beguile the masses when they are uneducated. Another problem is that Action speaks louder than words.
Extremism is a big problem in Pakistan, thanks to certain policies in Past, but slowly slowly we are moving ahead towards tolerance.

We have a law if you disobey you will be punished simple is that.

Dispite this all minorities have equal rights and they are living peacefully in Pakistan.

You can make laws too for your beef thing but you have to then officially declare yourself a Hindu state. That you are but call yourself a Secular state. Your current party in power is well known as "Hindu Talibans".

Voilent protests over the stupid youtube video & chalie hebdo's cartoons in Pakistan & getting productive tool(Youtube) banned for 3 years straight. Destroying & burning state's properties . What was that for if the culprits didn't live & breath in Pakistan?
