As I understand it, there has been ample confusion over the existence and perhaps configuration of the YJ-18 series.
Is it a variant of the 3M54 Klub or a clean sheet design right off the bat? Is it a subsonic AShM, in the league of the LRASM and NSM, or is it a supersonic missile? Does it draw on stealthy designs akin to that of the NSM/Perseus or is it simply reliant on sheer kinematics to dodge enemy defenses? Does it really have three variants, one air-launched, one surface-launched, one submarine-launched, as rumors have said so? Unfortunately, the secrecy (or hype) of this weapon has hindered any rational answer to these aforementioned questions.
There has been so-called 'reports' of this weapon written on defenses pages like Deagel and whatnot, but it is unlikely that they are in any way accurate in describing this supposed missile.

One thing for sure, it will surely fit into the VLS of type052D and type055 cruiser, making the system a truly multi role VLS similar to MK41. This makes China after United states to independently develop such system.
As for the missile, it looks like HQ-9. Is it possible China make a similiar air defense missile which able to perform dual role of anti ship like RIM-66?

YJ18：ship- and submarine-launched land attack cruise missile SLCM
Not sure if an air-launched version would be developed now that the PLAAF and the PLAN have gotten their hands on the YJ-12。
