Regarding deterrence and war, India had N bomb very early in 70s and still it didn't do anything to you (By analogy of your thinking). Hence you may count '99, '02, '08 or every year this is just ego satisfaction nothing else.

Our Generals are more smarter than the Indians here on the forum, the so called analysts who likes to paint our nuclear arsenals as unstable, and the so called western think tanks.

Our Generals are not war mongers and chest thumper like Indian counterparts.What we are seeing is only whining and indians satisfying their own egos.

Sabir Chaudhry or any other intellectual can say whatever he likes. We have struggled for 3 decades to get to where we are. With experience comes tolerance. However this tolerance should not translate into cowardice. Pakistan is not an irresponsible state but events have proven again and again that we would not be taken seriously till such time that we talk from a position of strength. This is the crux of the matter. It has been proven in the last decade at least on 2 occasions.

just one question.....where have you come too?after 3 decades of strugle?....as far as am concerned Pakistan did better in the initial years of formation compared to India which had to struggle .....at one point of time we had to beg for food from other countries.....this is not to say anything about India's achievement but atleast India had a planned future...slow but one with positive growth prospects......i still cant understand your statement that i ve highlighted....where have you come to?what have you achieved?....having a nuke is an achievement ? seriously....all that your country has done is let your citizens/army act as paid mercenaries to other countries......even now...if behrain wants to quell a rebellion...it comes to Pakistan to recruit.....why cant you guys get all these men to fight away the taliban/terrorists that are blowing everything apart in your country.......

Your generals are surely very intelligent to create war mongering Terrorists which is badly hitting them and the biggest problem is few of PA and ISI members are having hand in glove with them. This is the reason US, India and Rest of world are worried. We and even most of the Pakistanis als believeing in incapability of PA/ISI after Abbottabad operation.

We are Warmongers and Chest thumpers?? Oh Really Boy!! go revisit history, come back for the count of 48, 65, 71, 99 and then we will talk. If we want to just show off Nukes (Which Pakistanis do obviously) we can very well do that between '75 (when we tested our first N Bomb) to '96 (when You tested yours).

There is no future here, and we need to start over. So many people think this. Have you been to the villages of Pakistan, the interior? There is nothing but dire poverty and pain. The children have no education; there is nothing to look forward to. Go into the villages, see the poverty. There is no drinking water. Small children without shoes walk miles for a drink of water. I go to the villages and I want to cry. My children have no future. None of the children of Pakistan have a future. We are surrounded by nothing but war and suffering. Millions should die away."

Has the situation improved now especially after War on Terror. If many Pakistani want to start over, it could also be done without having to resort to this Nuclear Genocidal dreams.

Perhaps the Problem with Pakistan is this feeling of "nothing to look forward to". That's probably the reason why People like Zaid Hamid are proposing Takmeel e Pakistan is ghazwa e hind etc.,
Even Peaceful Pakistanis think Ghazwa e Hind will happen, but by Islamisation of India or something similar to that(which is again cultural genocide).

Pakistan needs something to look forward to but it should not be related to India., That would solve the problem, I guess.

as a counter to India's nuclear capability, is Pakistan's only celebrated achievement since its formation, in 1947.
