GENEVA -Indian diplomats at the United Nations were left speechless on Tuesday under a barrage of accusations, backed by evidence, coming from exiled Kashmiri leaders who unfolded a horror list of things that India is doing and hiding from the world.

The day began when Syed Faiz Naqshbandi addressed the 30thsession of UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. World diplomats and human rights activists were stunned when Naqshbandi mentioned a little known fact about Indian jails.

“More than 5,000 Kashmiris are languishing in Indian jails without trial,” Naqshbandi told the UN. This, he said, is in clear violation of the provisions of Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and International Convention on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
Indian diplomats had some relief after Naqshbandi’s speech as other rights defenders drove the discussion toward other pressing issues.

Then another Kashmiri from the Indian-occupied region took to the floor and startled the audience with another piece of information about India that few knew: the mass graves.

Altaf Hussain Wani’s presentation came as a surprise to many, since India uses its films and culture to conceal its dark human rights record. Wani, the convener of Jammu and Kashmir National Front (JKNF), reminded the world community that India was hiding another ugly secret: mass graves.
India is the only democracy in the world where mass graves have been found in areas where the Indian army has a large presence.

India was not cooperating with UN Special procedures despite repeated reminders from UN officers, said Wani, quoting official UN documents.

“The height of Indian arrogance is such that it had not replied to Working Group’s letter wherein serious concern was expressed regarding the continuing construction work on the site of a newly discovered mass grave,” Wani told the UNHRC. And despite a number of requests seeking a formal approval from the government of India, the Working Group on disappeared persons was not allowed undertaking a visit to take stock of the worsening human rights situation in Kashmir.

It may be recalled here that the Working Group emphasized the importance of preserving mass graves sites, including ensuring that an effective criminal and forensic investigation can take place and to take appropriate measures to assist victims to achieve truth and justice. The Working Group regrets that it has not received a reply to a letter, transmitted jointly with two other special procedures mandate holders on 23 January 2015, concerning the allegations of continuing construction work on the site of newly discovered mass graves. On the other hand the Working Group, on 16 August 2010, had requested an invitation to undertake a visit to the country. No positive response has been received yet in spite of reminders sent. The Working Group hopes that a positive reply will be received soon from the Indian government.

. .
Indians went to the UN and boasted to the P5 "under Modi, India is now a shupa powa!" We all laughed.

Now everybody sees a cesspool of Kashmir oppression, communal violence, gangrape, caste system, lies.

No more "shining India."

When a diplomat speaks in UN Council, people dont interfere in the speech. They either walk off or stay silent (speechless). It was the turn of your diplomant, he tried to play his drums at highest tempo. But would world give it an ear is what matters, more over Indian response is still pending.

Other than this, please move over and stop posting blog contents as news.

NEW DELHI: There was diplomatic blood on the floor in the tension-filled days before the UNGA decision on Monday to begin text-based negotiations to reform the UN Security Council. Once again, China and Russia led the move to sabotage the process.

A few days before the UNGA session, Chinese and Russian diplomats, in a stealth operation, attempted to insert a couple of paragraphs into the text. If they had succeeded, it would have diluted the entire negotiations on unnecessary technicalities which would have meant the UN would be negotiating UNSC reform for years and years without a decision in sight.

Led by India, a number of countries joined the battle against the Chinese move, even launching a protest at UNGA president, Sam Kutesa's residence over the weekend. Kutesa agreed to remove the offending paragraphs.

China wasn't giving up without a bigger fight. They reached out to a number of national capitals to get the text amended before it reached the floor on Monday. Some countries agreed, but ultimately China failed to get the numbers that India had. In all of this diplomatic warfare, the US stayed strangely silent - either to see whether India could win on its own, or because they are keeping their powder dry to kill the process later, or because they silently supported the Sino-Russian move.

India was not surprised by the Chinese action. And in those last frenzied moments in the UN, it became clear this would be an India-China battle.

But to see Russia on China's side, after supposedly supporting India's case for almost half a century, was a tough one. This week, Russia sent its deputy foreign minister, Gennady Gatilov to meet Sujata Mehta in the MEA, after their performance in the UN. A statement from the Russian embassy said, the two "exchanged opinions on the main aspects of intergovernmental negotiation process considering the current various options for the increase in the United Nations Security Council membership. The Russian Side reaffirmed the readiness to support the Indian candidature for the United Nations Security Council." But India has taken the Russian betrayal hard.

Bloodied but unbowed, China and Russia, say sources, now plan to take the battle one step further. They have been working on the Jamaican government to remove Courtney Rattray, the prime brain behind the UNSC reform text, so he cannot head the negotiations on the text and it can be given to someone unfamiliar with the history of the text. That would deal a blow to India.

The UNGA decision to negotiate UNSC reform succeeded on two counts. First, after 23 years there is a text on which the UN can negotiate a reform agenda. Second, in a fair fight, the 13-country group led by China and including Pakistan and Italy called United for Consensus could not drum up enough support for stalling the process.

Anyone cares to post a sensible response to the mass grave issue in Kashmir? Its not like we forgot about how many mass killings happen of the minorities in India by the powerful Hindu extremists organizations, supported by the Indian PM himself and over many decades!!!!

Those mass graves are of terrorists. We do not have excess inventory of graveyards to give every terrorist a proper burial.
