A Chinese Empire Reborn

The highest and the deepest form of imperialism is NOT the military , neither the trade. It is the cultural imperialism which is felt by the common men ; one does not need to be an academic. Ordinary people see Hollywood movies , McDonald’s, Coke , Marlboro etc etc. They don't care to Know who has the highest GDP growth. London , Paris and New York are the places where everyone wants to be. People risk their lives in boats or containers to reach European or American shores ; many die en route. People follow the fashion of American and European celebrities. Listen to their music.

If you want to build an empire, make sure everyone wants to go to China , everyone wants to be and speak like a Chinese ! The same applies to other imperialist aspirants.

Fair point. The "radar signature" left by F22 is very much in congruence with what a Ganga-lander would leave behind.

Going back to the subject in hand non of us can see the future. We can only make calculated guesstimates. However I am convinced that China will be a hyperpower - I use that term for a reason. Because I think given the population size of China when it does fully fire all cylinders we will see a power that will so eclipse everything that the term superpower will not do it justice. This power at altogether another magnitude will deserve another term to convey it's size and power.

I have read many reports on the matter and they pain a mixed picture. All reports tend to be subjective and therefore one has to keep that in mind. In addition nobody is god and non can see where exactly we will be in five decades down the road. I am not a economist and will not pretend that I can give a thesis on why I think China will be the future hyperpower. I merely make lay observations.

What I know is and I remember this like yesterday our geography teacher in late 1970s talking about China the way people talk about Bangladesh until recently. Words like poverty, famine were used. Yet China has made astronomical progress since 1979. In four decades she has achieved the impossible. If we were having this discussion in 1977 and somebody mentioned China in the context of what it is today they would have been laughed at. They would have cited scores of reasons, valid reasons to say that China will not get where she has today. Yet here we are in 2018 and we see the miracle in China.

I began to feel the change in early 2000s. I was living in Sheffield when I did a short course at Sheffield University. Every year the number of Chinese students was rising. Some areas like Crookes were just full of Chinese students. This is when I had my real exposure to Chinese. And most of these students were mainland Chinese. Therefore if China can climb from 1979 to 2018 the distance it did despite all the hurdles I simply accept that in another 40 years they will climb even higher - for sure they will face new hurdles but they will overcome these as they did what they faced in last 4 decades. I am enthused by the spirit, the drive and the will to rise up that they have shown. And those same qualities that drove them where they are today will take them higher.

I confess I have my angle in this. I am hoping that as China rises inevitably it's shadow will elongate. Most of all this will impact Pakistan because being a neighbour and having strategic relationship. I hoppe that as Chinese influence increases in Pakistan the qualities that have driven China forward will begin to make inroads into Pakistani culture. In a sense I see Chinese as the pefect lab made antidote to the religious extremism that has retarded Pakistan - a land with history going back to one of the earliest civilizations on earth. Pakistan sans religious extremism would be back on the road to greatness and become a true heir to the Indus Valley Civilization much as China is on the way to reclaim it's glorious history.

Multiculturalism is the greatest destructive tool of any country. Multiculturalism bring instability and hatred among the populace. Zionist favour card to destabilize stabilize countries.

You lived in UK and I grew up in North America. There is no way any white person would go into a Pakistan forum and religiously bash China . This dude has never posted any negative news about India nor has he ever argued or counter Indian perspective. He is definitely a false flagger. In reality, racist whites who dislike east Asians and Indians hate Indians a much more.

The assumption of your post is you assume the established government and institutions will always have a strong base going forward with the ability to keep an eye on different ethnic groups. You know that can't always work, ie Germany, Sweden, etc. nor can you assume the country will always be strong in the distant future. Example, when Tang pacified Xinjiang, they should have not allowed the uyghurs to stay. Hence centuries later they seem to be headache to Chinese society. Combined with CIA money and religion there could have been a disaster if China we're weak.
Agreed with you. White people do not care about Middle East or Pakistan. lol.

Not good enough -- the highlighted.

You can have two types of 'empire': physical and virtual.

The physical empire is what we commonly associates with the ancient Romans or the recently Soviets. But the virtual empire is what you spoke about in your first paragraph. Wanting to go to China and speak Chinese essentially confines the person to within China. You have to want to be Chinese wherever you are and that is the difference between the virtual American/Western empire of today versus what was in the past.

Ideas needs the human agency to survive and as the individual is the most atomic level of civilization, the person carries within ability to either destroy or grow an idea. Currently, the most attractive idea -- at least in the political realm -- is individualism of which underneath lies other ideas like self expression, freedom of speech, etc. When you have peoples that are denied these ideas for so long what do you think they are going to do when they encounters them ? They are going to compare what they know and experienced versus what others know and experienced. Internal conflicts are inevitable. Some will be recoiled at what they see within themselves and some will be attracted. Going back to when two Berlins existed. No one in West Berlin want to be like East Berlin while East Berliners want to be like West Berliners. Hence The Wall and the graves of those who dared to try to escape East Berlin.

If China want to build that virtual empire, she must try to convince people to adopt Chinese ideals and currently, no one knows what they are. It is not that people are denied information about China. Things like how safe are Chinese streets at night or how fast can a Chinese maglev train go are not enough of attractants. Those things can never be internalized. But what are always internalized is an '-ism'.

a distinctive practice, system, or philosophy, typically a political ideology or an artistic movement.

Everyone is aware of American-ism and/or Western-ism, and like you pointed out, many risked lives and limbs to either go to the places of that 'ism' or tries to adopt it wherever they are, and for the latter, often with fatal consequences from the reigning governments. China being a homogeneous society, and is working hard to stay that way, is barrier to a goal of having a virtual Chinese empire. In that sense, China is a racist country and nation-state. She does not advocate anything of China-ism as universally attractive, and as long as she restricts what constitutes a 'Chinese' to be along racial attributes, there cannot be anything equivalent from China to American-ism or Western-ism. So in order to make China attractive, she has to make it easier for others to become Chinese in every ways, cultural and political.

What this means is that if there is anything resembling a Chinese 'empire' it will be at the state level, of which military might is the only instrument of influence.

lol you are another false flag.

Show your true flags and be proud of it.

China is an emerging superpower and its unstoppable.

Not even USA can do anything about it.

China will supersede USA one day. And that day is coming pretty soon.

Your placing the cart before the horse. Western "soft power" was non existent prior to it's rise as a economic and military power. The soft power and other attributes you place as "Western" came about after the West became a dominant global force. The Chinese are at nascent stage of their rise. You can't compare a matured Western order against a nascent emerging Sinosphere. Therefore it is a mistake to compare the two by looking at two differant societies that are at differant stages. The Chinese horse has just about placed it's forelegs on the finishing line. The cart will follow in time.

The mistake here is you not understanding my post.

I was talking about what kind of soft power is available for use by whom and the cultural version is what the West has and China do not. It was not about which kind of power came first. Of course security must come first in order for a community to start, a culture to flourish, and eventually a civilization to be established.

Take this example...

The US and the West are immigrant societies, a cultural trait that the Chinese sneers at, as evident by the Chinese members of this forum. If you believe in something, naturally you are expected to export it. The point is not if you actually do evangelize your belief but that you are expected to do so. Of course you can chose to do nothing and live out your belief but if you do nothing, questions will be as to why not. So do you think that China will be able to export the belief that all countries should be racially/ethnically distinct and protective of that status ? This is one component of the overall soft power that is either attractive or repulsive to observers.

Other components of soft power are comparable. Some will not like the execution of capitalism in the US and her Western allies and are more attracted to the more controlled version in China. So in this, China can, if she wanted, evangelize and export her version of capitalism.

The bottom line is that just like hard power where it has the number of tanks, ships, or jet aircrafts, soft power is the same in principle in that the more attractants one has in the basket, the more influential one will be on the world stage.

No wonder there are so many cases. Indians must had held his roots deep.

Police have arrested an Indian man accused of molesting a Bollywood actress on a flight from Delhi to Mumbai on Sunday.

Zaira Wasim, 17, said a "middle-aged man" sitting behind her had repeatedly moved his foot up and down her neck and back while she was "half-asleep".

One of the Indians identified as Dadyala Balwinder Singh (30), allegedly molested a woman in a pub at Orchard Towers, reported a Singaporean newspaper. He is alleged to have committed the offence at around 3:45pm on January 29 this year.

Two Indian men have been detained by Chinese police for allegedly trying to molest a Taiwanese tourist in the lift of a hotel here.

The two men, hailing from Haryana and stated to be part of a group of traders brought here by a tea company from India, allegedly attempted to molest the Taiwanese tourist on July 7 in the lift, officials said.

Two Indian businessmen were staying in Beijing to conduct some business related to their Haryana-based tea company. Unfortunately, during their stay in China, the two men also decided to have some "fun" as well.

While staying at a Beijing hotel, the two men reportedly molested a 17-year-old schoolgirl, who tragically walked into the wrong elevator. The young girl was visiting her older sister with her parents and had traveled from Taiwan.

yet, China's performance keeps defying their so-called "observation" and assumption```do they have climax everytime after pulling out articles like that, becaues I cant explain why they keep writing things that against truth and reality?
For the lowest common denominator in Western society. There's a lot. Believe me.

Sooner or later, Cuba will have bigger soft power than USA, when people start realizing people in Cuba are enjoying better health -- despite of all sort of economic sabotaging.

And USA clowns can go around export their human rights, to the entertainment of nations.

That’s right. Western civilization is a ‘meme’ that is being replicated all over the world. The key is to become the ‘meme’ which has the survival fitness to be replicated in larger human population. Evolutionary force eventually defines the survival of anything in the universe by mean of natural selection be it physical or cultural. Capitalism was not imposed on society but it was the result of natural evolution.

There are more and more evidence suggesting the west including USA is fake democracy. Power is in the hands of a few hereditary families rather than elected officials.

Once people is aware of this, there will be no difficulties understanding the unavoidable demise of west. And I am not sure how democracy evangelist can sell such system to a patriot, but of course, the race traitors will always want to emulate that.
