ISLAMABAD: The capital city will soon have a bus service modeled on the metrobus service introduced in Lahore, as the consultant firm has declared it doable in Islamabad too.In the second phase, the engineering design for the project would be made, costing an estimated Rs8 billion.
Sources in the CDA say the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will finance the project. In April 2012, the bank assigned this task to British firm M/s Global International. In its report, the firm suggested five metrobus routes covering 27 km.
Route 1 will start from Sector I-11 to Pak Secretariat; Route 2 from G-11 to Secretariat; Route 3 from F-11 to Secretariat; and Route 4 and 5 from I-11 to Secretariat via different roads. A total of 37 bus stations will *** the routes. The CDA is in talks with the donor to make the project a success.
