there used to exist minor anti-arab sentiment in iran beforehand mostly by self deluded pan-iranists and pan-turks ; But the recent phenomenon you might encounter on the web is mostly a result of mahmud ahmedinajad 's presidency where this supposed hatred of arabs was popularized among many other things like iran's nuclear program. The only people you see on the web hating on arabs are IR fanboys who have no better way of expressing their frustration. hope you understand

Well being a Pakistani and a Muslim, I truly and sincerely wish that Arab and Persian brothers get along well and remove all misunderstandings..Of course the sectarian difference will stay but we should learn to co-exist or our common enemies will benefit. Both Arabs and Iranians should know that those who support them to fight their brothers are not sincere to you either, they are just using you so refuse being their slaves and play into their games..

On a personal account, I think Iranian population as liberal and open-minded and have little affection towards Mulla fanaticism ideology prevailing at the government level. So, all of the hostile actions of Iran against Arab nations merely depicts the fact that how clergy is using the religion and ethnicity to keep strengthen its hold on power in the country.

For region, IRAN , ARAB and Muslims this hostility is not serving well. These two power corridors if join hands will solve lot of issues.. I don't know what actually happened in Iran ..But i think before Shah the relations were better..

Well, contrary to popular belief Arabs of Iraq and Arabia have had cordial and overall close ties with the genuine Persians of Iran (Southern Iranians) who are our neighbors.

You wrote it yourself in another thread as well:

Not all persians are like that , i'm not trying to change your attitude towards persians or add anything to your knowledge of iran ; But you must know most people calling Arabs words are people of northern iran with a turk-kurd background , they even call the southern iranians Arabs ! so you can figure out what it means .. it's simply a remote extension of american racism that has gotten to iran and other places in the middle east , they think they are white people and everyone else is Arab ! the word persian itself is overused , 'persians' are from southern iran and southern iranians look almost like arabs . people of northern iran are not persian ! everyone there is either a turk , a kurd , a lor or some other pseudo-turk

Funny that you say that. You are right and I have noticed that myself here, elsewhere and in person.

The real Persians from the Persian heartland in Southern and Western Iran (not the ones that were "Persified") are very hard to pick apart from neighboring Arabs (GCC and Iraq) and people of Iranian origin in the GCC (Iranian Arabs, Persians, Lurs) confirm that notion.

It's hard to tell them apart unless by surname or when they open their mouths (accent). Of course many of them on both sides of the pond have mixed with each other creating the Arab-Persian "fusion".

Ironically all the Iranian users that we Arabs have the best ties with are/have been (those no longer active) Southern Iranians. An interesting observation that I don't believe is a coincidence. I am not saying that Northern Iranians are evil or anything but that we seem to have more in common with Southern Iranians and thus interact with them easier.

Anyway Gothic are you from Southern, Eastern or Central Iran by any chance?

it would be a good thing for the region and most importantly the common man and woman in the region.

Pre-1979 our relations were very brotherly, but with the disappearance of the Shah, our relations also disappeared.

Yeah

The Old Shah of Iran during his exile spent his final days in an Arab country, Egypt.

If you look at 2:17-2:32 then you see how friendly and loyal to each other we were. These are what are Relations should be like, Allies and brothers.

Greater regional economic integration and cooperation could solve a lot of problems/disagreements/misunderstandings/silly rivalries. If the region worked as one economic unit with clearly defined areas of interest that would/could not be crossed, much could be solved peacefully.

I think that the GCC model (regional cooperation that transcends different fields such as economy, security, politics, military, trade, people to people relations) is the way forward. It cannot be right that it is easier for Arabs from country x or y to work and live in non-Arab countries (West) and do trade with them and establish companies in their countries than in fellow Arab countries. Goes for non-Arab regional countries as well.

It should not be this difficult for an Saudi Arabian or Mauritanian businessman to invest in Egypt for instance and vice versa.

There are 2 groups of Iranian Arab haters.

1. The deluded Shahi idiots, mostly living in North America. These are the sort of people who wish for the Pahlavis to return to power again, the sort of people who refuse to call themselves Iranian and only call themselves "Persian". They are typically atheists (sometimes Zoroastrian) and say Iran has been taken over by an "Arab religion".

2. A minority of people in Iran, who regardless of political or religious affiliation have gone the route of saying that just because Arab governments are the enemy, so are Arab people. This trend is quite common throughout the world and is where most racists get their ideas.
