90 govt officials, 29 politicians involved in Iranian oil smuggling: report

Finally someone understands!
Additional benefits is it employs unemployed Baloch and saves forex. If it’s under the watchful eyes of the boys then they can ensure terrorists don’t take advantage of it and can use this to keep Baloch pro pak cuz the interests of these smugglers with be tied with our interests. If also improves our soft power and leverage over Iranian Baloch especially in the border areas because their livelihood is tied to us.
The only people this harms is Iranian government. As long as the smuggling isn’t conducted by terrorists, it’s benefiting Pakistan more than any harm it brings.

The folks supporting the smuggling should know the loss Pakistan state has to endure in terms of failing to collect tax on the imported oil.

There is a reason why higher ups in the army would kill each other for a post in Quetta.

Taxing in local currency on expensive imported oil imported via usage of dwindling foreign reserves is more detrimental than no Tax on dirt cheap oil. It’s like equating local dirt cheap Sui gas vs tax on expensive LNG shipment.

Pakistan can’t import Iranian oil for 2 reasons.

#1. US sanctions.
#2. International oil prices. Why buy Iranian oil when Iran charges you international oil rates.

I say smuggle more. Boys are circumventing both problems. They are buying oil at local Iranian rate for dirt cheap prices and Uncle Sam is not triggered.

Ganda Hai Par Dhandha Hai.
Wrong
Pakistan can easily do barter trade just like how turkey and other countries are buying Iranian gas.

Well has pakistan came to Iranian table..if they offer same price you are right there is no point in buying

Lastly sanctions are pretty loose now they are only American sanctions the western sanctions have been lifted

No it's not

Iranians also benefits from it, that’s why they are looking the other way. They know they can’t sell oil internationally so whatever revenue or dollars the get from this is better than nothing.
I’m pretty sure Iranians subsidized petrol and diesel for their population. So if them buying it from where the locals buy it would mean that they bought the Iranian government subsidized price for it. Iran has the third cheapest oil prices for their civilians.

So would you rather Pakistan pays much more for oil with its precious forex just to collect some taxes on it, or would you rather Pakistan get dirt cheap Iranian oil which it doesn’t have to waste forex on but can’t tax? Which offers more benefits?

The 2023 price for oil for Iranians in Iran is:

“Another oil-rich country- clearly, there is a trend. Logically, the countries with the most oil reserves pay the least. The Iranians, with huge oil reserves of their own, charge $0.20 per gallon.”

Source:

International oil prices are at around $82+. A barrel has around 42 gallons in it. The price per barrel for Iranian smuggled oil is far cheaper than international imported oil. The costs per barrel for Iranian smuggled oil alone is cheaper than the tax on imported international oil the government charges.

Unregulated money exchange and smuggling has it's own con's. Funding of espionage and terrorism activities to begin with.

Which offers more benefits? dirt cheap Iranian oil or dirt cheap killing of Pakistani citizens?

In case you do not know, Iran does not operate its gas-stations as other countries usually do. Every citizen is issued a permit card, that is mandatory to be inserted into the machine before the fuel is dispensed and of course it has a monthly quota as well.

So I do not believe this "dirt cheap oil" being smuggled comes from their local citizen quota rather officially sold out to the smugglers by the administration.

Which brings us to a point that they must be getting something out of it as nothing is free in this world.

Saudis cost to produce is $8 /bbl. Iranian must be around same price range. Brent crude is almost 87/bbl so that’s 1100% profit.

Even if Iranian taxing their local consumers, oil is still dirt cheap for Pakistan. I would drill an unofficial underground pipeline so cost to transport even cheaper.

Pakistan buys $10 to $15 billions worth of oil and gas. What do you expect Pakistan to export in return (barter with)? Pakistan don’t produce anything of value, right now even food items are imported into Pakistan.

IMF and world Bank both are controlled by US. So for economically weak country like Pakistan, that is more than enough.

That’s for lumber #1 to check on, which I bet they failing to do so.

Ofcourse, IRGC is no different than sections of Lumber#1 and property dealers. IRGC insiders are corrupt and very wealthy. They most probably are getting (smuggling) much needed dollars and some western electronics from Pakistan, just like Afghan economy is leeching off of Pakistan.

The smuggling is not limited to oil only. Pakistani consumer markets in are full of Irani products. From biscuits to detergents, home appliances to everything else. The boys are making tons of money while local manufacturing is suffering.

Win win for all, but man I wish Pakistan got its act together.
