What's new

8 years of hard work, 2000km Shanghai-Kunming High-speed Railway finally opens on 28th December 2016

Damn, I just be concerned over the HSR line linking Xiamen to Chengdu, which will pass through my downtown, each time go to my wife's downtown is suffering Now.:cry::cry:
There is no such HSR but a corridor, some sections have a designed speed of 200-250km/h, some 300-350km/h.

. . . .
The pace Chinese railways are generating is just mind boggling. I am sure concerned person in IR would be looking at it and trying to understand how to build our infrastructure in much faster way than present.

.
If some country can do something like this then they can certainly copy the story of China‘s success.

.
lol....I understand your concern, I'm pretty sure most Chinese have no ideas.
There are actually some "quite big" cities, at least some 3-4 tier cities in the making and some national level development zones.

The biggest city other than Guiyang and Kunming (both tier 3 cities) is Anshun, a tier 4 city in Guizhou Province.
I guess you've heard of it if you have ever read China's history of early 20th century.
I've been there on my way to Huangguoshu Waterfall, I could personally confirm she is a relatively big city developing very very quickly.

No when I say 8 years is bit high looking at Chinese capability means I rate China even higher in their project completion capability. It is a compliment to China and there was no need to expose his ill mentality.
We understood that. However, your might misunderstand him - he might not make the comment directly to India. In Australia we all know the long - planned Sydney to Melbourne HSR can only become reality in 2040 if it can be started now. That is still a big if considering it is still under the feasibility stage of many years. So 28 years is a very correct statement in this case.

High-Speed Rail Service to Kunming Ready to Roll

1482738452289973_660_440.jpg
A bullet train travels across Anshun, Guizhou province, on Thursday. The railway is part of the 2,252-km high-speed rail line that will link Kunming in southwestern China with Shanghai on the east coast in January. Photo: IC

High-speed rail service to the southwestern city of Kunming will begin on Wednesday, adding scenic and mountainous Yunnan province to the nation’s growing bullet-train network. Service will initially connect Kunming with the nearby cities of Guiyang and Changsha, and be expanded to the larger cities of Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen in the first half of January. Trips on the 2,252-km line between Shanghai and Kunming will reduce travel times to just over 11 hours, compared with the previous 34 hours. The line will be the longest east-west corridor in China’s growing high-speed rail network, and cost more than 300 billion yuan ($43 billion). From Shanghai the line will pass through Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan and Guizhou provinces before reaching Yunnan, which borders Myanmar. The line will be able to handle 30 million passengers per year initially. Tickets are expected to sell for a starting price of 800 to 900 yuan.

On the same day another HSR will open, Kunming-Nanning HSR, forming Kunming-Guangzhou corrdidor. So basically, two HSRs for Yunnan Province on the same day!
