(Web Desk) - A major earthquake of 7.2 on the Richter scale jolted different parts of Balochistan and Sindh today (Saturday).

The new tremor struck 96 kilometres (59 miles) northeast of the district of Awaran at a depth of 14km at 1234 (0734 GMT) according to the US Geological Survey.
"It was not an aftershock it was an independent earthquake," Zahid Rafi, director of the National Seismic Centre of Pakistan said.

The areas where tremors were felt included Quetta‚ Khuzdar‚ Awaran‚ Kech‚ Panjgur‚ Jaffarabad‚ Naseerabad‚ Chaghi‚ Dera Allah Yar‚ Dalbandi‚ Kashmore‚ Karachi‚ Larkana and Shahdad Kot.
Awaran, a remote region in the province of Balochistan, was shattered by a 7.7-magnitude quake on Tuesday which left more than 500 dead and over 100,000 people homeless.

An AFP reporter in Awaran said today that hundreds of patients being treated in the aftermath of the previous quake fled a hospital in panic as the new tremor hit. "We are checking but no reports of losses have yet been received," Jan Mohammad Buledi, spokesman for the provincial government of Balochistan said.

People please do astagfar we need to stop doing sins and help brothers who are in trouble now

it must be the aftershocks , hope no more death or damage happens.
Its very rare that after shock almost same scale come and their reports of some homes falling in area where the damage is already massive because of the previous earth quake

This is a very serious aftershock.

Yes Sir mostly these kind of after shocks don't come I mean of this scale we need to do taubah ask for forgiveness and help our brothers and take out BLA guys and their are reports of more houses falling in Awaran and Mashk Sir May ALLAH forgive and help us in these tough times

No i don't think it was aftershock it was a serious earth quick because i remember October 8,2005 earth quick which was about 7.5 on reciter scale and every thing was just moving badly.i come out my room and sits in a street and not enter my room at least for 2 hour of earth quick.

Allah khair. This doesn't qualify to be called "after-shock" it is an earthquake on its own. Looks like major tectonic rumble is taking place in that area and if so, the formed island is going to rise or consolidate.

It could still technically be an after shock, the magnitude reflective of the power of the original one. An aftershock is still an earthquake, just connected to the original one. However if the Pakistani expert quoted is right, then it clearly indicates major tectonic activity.

Let's pray this time all terrorists hiding in mountains die.

This area is very close to strategic Gwadar Port. If center of this activity was few hundred miles down in the ocean, that would have been a gold above gold as we would have got a watch-point in the middle of the sea to guard it... but until now, it is close to port itself which is rather worrisome.

If you are talking about that mud island, that probably won't last . It has happened before.
