6th SAARC speakers conference kicks off in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Sixth South Asian Association For Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Speakers and Parliamentarians conference kicked off here on Sunday.

SAARC women parliamentarians met during the inaugural session with the general secretary of the Women Parliamentary Caucus Nafeesa Shah in the chair.

The session discussed the role of women parliamentarians for social justice and the strengthening of democracy in South Asia.

From India, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and Deputy Chairman Rajya Sabha Professor P. J. Kurien among various parliamentarians are attending the conference.

These Saarc conferences are so pointless.

Its better if Pakistan and Afghanistan go into a Central Asian union with Central Asia.

That would bear so much more fruit.

an useless grouping with a pointless agenda...
They have achieved nothing in past 3 decades.. Just wasting people's money in hotels and luxuries...
No FTA, No defence pact, No integration or economic pact.. Nothing...
On the other hand, ASEAN, born later than SAARC have achieved more than it...
we should abondon it and concentrate on Indian Ocean Rim Association..
