The 60s to 80s was farrrrrrrr worse, yet there was no civil war. So why should there be one this time when the US is in far better shape. People forget what makes the US so strong is that the US has a very mature and stable democratic political system which has been laid out centuries ago and has been working since then. There are checks and balances , independent judiciary, free/independent supreme court etc etc. This ensures that no president can come and abuse his power to a certain extent or overstay his mandate like for example Xi jingping of China did recently giving him the power to rule forever depending on HIS WISHES or Putin of Russia who controls so much power that there is no institution or counterbalance to his rule, same with many other dictatorial authoritarian developing countries with "strong men" presidents who focus all power on themselves creating a myth of cult personality where in case things goes wrong the whole system collapses like a castle of cards, since there are no strong independent state institutions which can carry on ruling/making the country work without this cult of personality president.
So the advantage of the US is it's mature/stable political system that has very solid foundations and strong independent of institutions that can keep the president in line when he oversteps his boundary.
So talk of a civil war in the US is laughable.

The most important factor is that people losing their trust on the system.

In 1990, the Soviet Union economy (and education, science and technology, healthcare as well) was much better and stronger than 1945. It also faced less social problems in 1990 compared to 1920 - 1930.

But in 1920 - 1930 or 1945, Soviet people believed that the new system would bring happy lives for all, so they could overcome many hardships, including starvation which killed 5 - 8 millions in 1932 - 1933.

But now people all over the world, including in the US (and including Trump) is gradually losing their belief in the Westen-style liberal democractic system and the trend cannot be reversed in coming 50 - 100 years. It was similar to the trend in former Eastern bloc starting from late 1970.

I don't think westerners have lost trust on their ideology or system. Matter of fact, they are so confident with their ideology that it has become a religion. They still see non-democratic countries as heathens and have superiority complex to them. Westerners will not introspect their religion no matter of what.

It is the army of a thousand Democrat lawyers that is threatening chaos with their lawsuits to enlist liberal activist judges to force rule changes in vote legitimacy rules after the fact that will cause the crisis that is coming. The only way a crisis will be averted is if Biden wins by a landslide in the Electoral college during the first week of November.
