PTV has gone down the drain
Before there was a drive , for each studio in major provinces to retain talent and recruit new talent.
There were budgets for production of new shows and salaries of directors / writers and actors
There was good blance between drama , comedy , news and art shows
Sadly the decline of Art and culture goes hand in hand with rise in beard culture and extremism
No reason why a "STEADY budget" cannot be put forth for National TV unit
> Hiring of new Writers
> Hiring of new Directors
> Hiring of new actors from arts schools or Humanities etc
> Music & culture promotions etc
The private channels have just become mouth piece for "so called Talk shows" that are just political party's mouth piece and propaganda tools
Things are bad for PTV in general !! Very dark and grim
It used to be quite common that the next "Big face of Media / Pop Icon" was coming from PTV based shows not anymore sadly
General Zia made sure that it was turned into a Wahabi channel
Modern Private sector is
90% political talk shows , and 10% news and 10% graphics repeating news or breaking news
Lack of quality , moderate to liberal entertainment shows have made the population quite bored and that is why they become true wahabis or just seek out foreign entertainment
PTV could have acted as a becon to mold opinion of Pakistani Youth and make them more libral or moderate however we find that there is really a lack of quality shows
Most countries rely on Sports shows to also bring in public and fans , and sell advertisement yet PTV continues to lack million miles of world standard
