NA-125 Lahore – Interesting Case Study


NA-125 is an interesting constituency where several senior leaders of PTI have filed their nominations papers against Saad Rafiq of PMLN.

The tax records of year 2012 shared by Election Commission of Pakistan for NA-125 candidates show interesting figure, where senior PTI members have been paying very low taxes. It is surprising and saddening to know that PTI who has always been accusing others of tax evasion seems to be paying very low taxes as compared to their lifestyle and incomes.

Umar Sarfraz Cheema, who runs his Livestock and Dairy Farming Business pays no tax at all.

Ibrar-ul-Haq, the top pop music artist, who charges anywhere between Rs. 1 and 2 million per concert in Pakistan, and charges much more from oversea concerts has just made Rs. 854,964 in 2012. This amount is much less than the income of just a single concert and Ibrar paid just Rs. 128,245 tax in 2012.

Imran Khan, the chairperson of PTI, who lives at one of the most lavish 300 kanal mansion on top of Bani Gala hill and flew at least 20 times internationally in first class this year only paid Rs. 267,440 in taxes. Even if Imran Khan declares low income, yet it does not match with his living standard and lifestyle.

Hamid Khan, the top lawyer in Pakistan with clients like Malik Riaz, and who charges millions of rupees per case paid only Rs. 272,321 in taxes in 2012.

Shafqat Mahmood, whose is a small businessman, pays more taxes in comparison with other senior and richer members of PTI.

In comparison, Khawaja Saad Rafiq of PMLN, who is a full time grass root political worker and a small businessman paid Rs. 748,208 taxes in year 2012. His lifestyle and living standard is much lower than of Imran, Ibrar or Hamid Khan, yet he pays 3 times more taxes as compared to these PTI leaders.

how can u compare only taxes and say they;re good because they are paying more taxes..correct analysis is only when they;re incomes are also considered..compare the tax/income ratio and it'll be reliable

How on earth is Khuaja Saad Rafique paying more tax than anybody in the world would pay and that without any substential change in the earning volume? In 2010, he had earned 10 Lac and in 2012 he earned 17 Lac. WHAT on earth is making his tax to earning ratio go up like that????

I am also wondering what made Imran Khan's tax ratio go down... I AM PTI Member and I demand explanation of this aspect.

PTI will only keep one of those 5. No party keeps more than 1 candidate for one constituency unless they have sense deficiency syndrome.
