You're really not getting the point. Once you drop your previous Hindu names/idendity - you'll need a Muslim name and surname. Just like how Muhammad Ali changed his name and surname to fit his new religion so did many Hindu converts to Islam did. Many high-caste Hindu converts changed their surnames to Arabic/Persian to signify their previous status such as Sheikh (meaning Lord, elder or religious scholar in Arabic).

Some tribes changed their caste-names to Muslim versions.

We are Pakistanis and Muslims; that's who we are and that's who we'll always be. I and many others here did not convert to Islam - our ancestors did; just like every single non-convert Muslim out there. Islam is a religion built by converts.

I am not sure you are being serious here, no where did I say they converted for a title. I merely stated that they converted by Sufis since you asked why they converted. Also the posts here of saying Pakistanis are lower caste Hindus was actually a sarcastic to reply to a false flagger who pops up to repeatedly call Pakistanis dalits etc.

India has 15% sikhs/punjabis in its army when 2% of their total population is punjabi.

That is considered ethnic chauvinism. They consider Sikhs/Punjabis a martial race and therefore they are disproportionately represented in the armed forces.

india has simmering ethnic tensions, but many have lost their sting because of ethnic states formed earlier. Their states like are mostly based on ethnic composition.

In Pakistan, every ethnic group should be represented in the main stream. Their cultural heritage must be protected and should visible. A rainbow looks much better, otherwise its just white light.

Well, then the majority of them are ok with racist/biased recruitment policies.

Punjabis form the largest component in the army here due to their numbers, they arent disproportionally represented or anything. Even among them, it is the Potoharis who form the biggest component.
