don't know why but f35's so called "beast mode" just does not seem all that impressive...all I see is sacrificing stealth for payload.

You guys do understand beast mode is intended to be only used once there is no threat to these fighters, so stealth is not needed but more payload is needed.

F-35 platform in VLO configuration = to establish 'air superiority' over a heavily-defended space

F-35 platform in BM configuration = suited for a variety of missions as well as to reduce number of sorties in the process (stealth is not a requirement for a number of missions)

The Stealth aircrafts mentioned are probably similar to the thousands of stealth aircraft Luftwaffe fielded over the D-Day landings.
They were so stealthy that noone noticed them taking off, noone noticed their actions and noone noticed them landing.
Disappointed with such extremely poor results of this very expensive program, it was abandoned and since the Germans were using stealth factories and stealth documentation, it took a long time to develop something which has only a fraction of the stealth performance of that program.

why to risk 5 gen expensive jet for carrying external payload,for this purpose using 4 or 4.5 gen jets will be wise approach as if they are downed due to detection there will be less loss
